**** Movember 2012 ****

I've been growing a Mo since the summer, so I guess I don't count - I'm going for the full-on handlebar look, but it's taking a while as I'm not a particularly hirsute chap.

We're doing it at work, but for MacMillan and a local cancer care hospital, mainly due to one of my friends wife is suffering with cancer at the moment and both of the charities have been brilliant with her.

Not sure on my 'tache growing skills but its worth looking a nob for a month if money raised goes to such worthy causes in this country.

Good luck to everyone who is also participating.

I always though Movember was something to do with homosexuals...It seems i may have made a fool of myself on many occasions when this topic has been brought up in the past....

Its that time of year again guys! I missed out on this last year as I didn't hear about it until a week into November and it was a bit late by then!

Here is a small overview :

MOVEMBER
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

ABOUT_3.jpg

Once registered at movember.com each Mo Bro must begin the 1st of Movember with a clean shaven face. For the entire month each Mo Bro must grow and groom a moustache. There is to be no joining of the mo to the sideburns (that’s considered a beard), there’s to be no joining of the handlebars to the chin (that’s considered a goatee) and each Mo Bro must conduct himself like a true gentleman.

A Mo Sista is essentially a woman who loves a Mo. An individual that is dedicated to supporting the Mo Bros in her life through their moustache growing journey; whether it be a friend, colleague, family member or partner. These inspirational women are committed to raising awareness of men's health issues and much needed funds for men's health along the way.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

Money raised goes to Mens Health programs such as Prostate Cancer Uk and Cancer Research.

I lost somebody close this summer to Prostate Cancer so it means a lot to me and my Wife.

So come on guys, You've got a couple of days to get prepared!

P.s : Anybody with worries about work and being clean shaven. I'm sure most bosses would be ok with this as its for a good cause. :)

Edit : We need photo updates at least every 48 hours I would say?

Pretty sure there was already a thread for this? My bad if I'm mistaken.

I would do this if I could =/ Never had much facial hair.

I took the beard off end of last week and left the Mo on for a few hours at home, it is NOT a good look for me, I doubt I could raise enough cash to balance out the abuse I would get.

I've started a few days early, wanted a bit of a head start.

Surprisingly, no one seems to have noticed. Either that or they're being incredibly polite to my face, and laughing behind my back.

Yeah i'm doing this, a few of us at work are ina Movember team. Need to get my starting picture up on my profile and then i'll post it up here.
Should be good. Going to look like a seedy paedo/rapist i'm sure... But that's half the fun right?

Yeah I got a feeling I'm gonna get that rapist look going on :/

Ok be sure to post your profile link here and I'll stick it in the OP.

Is there anything you can do to improve beard growth?

I would love to grow an epic beard in support, but if I did it would look like I've just glued pubes to my face in random patches :p

This is Movember dude, not beardvember. Mo only!!

You know you've gotta start november clean shaven and then grow it throughout the month?

At least, that's the official way of doing it.

Do you have to be completely clean shaven?

I have some Sidey's that would be hard to part with (as I understand it as long as the tash isn't joined to anything it's fine).
