Who here has a Garmin Edge 800? I'm interested to hear your experiences with it as the reviews online seem to be quite mixed. It doesn't have any real competition in the market though and I don't think using my smartphone is a good solution.

I'm considering one for Christmas as it seems to be on offer at lots of places, but I wonder if that means a new model soon.

I have one and its brilliant. It's much cheaper it buy without maps and then you can get open source UK maps which just drag and drop in.

How do you find these things?

- battery life
- screen glare
- screen touch sensitivity with gloves
- signal loss
- user interface
- I've read people complaining about the software being generally flaky

Cheers! :)

I have no problems with it at all.

Battery hasn't failed me on rides up to five hours. You do need to turn the brightness down to get the most out if it.

Screen is clear and it's always worked with my gloves. Saying that its mainly a case of pressing start and stop as required.

Have lost signal on a couple of occasions but pick up is always very quick.

User interface on the device is fine. 95% of the time you only use start and stop. The bundled software is rubbish but I use Strava for recording and Bikeroutetoaster for routing.

Some super cheap Cannondale CAAD 10 Ultegras about at the minute, down from £2000 to £1400. The place I found online wanted 250 to post to me though, seems a little steep!

Well after weighing up wheels last week (RS80's Fulcrum 3's etc) and then buying the wife a Specialized Allez my budget was reduced.
Bought these instead (2nd hand):- http://www.amclassic.com/en/products/roadwheels/victory30.php

Look great and fairly light still (1590g) with some aero properties.
They are about 300g lighter than my current Ritchey wheelset plus with some new GP4000S i've bought will be lighter still by another 100-200g (depends whether my current Schwalbe Lugano's are folding or non-folding).

I'm now skint! lol

With the brightness turned down my 800 is good for ~16hours.

No problems with the screen or the software. I did fit an anti-glare screen protector as soon as I got it though. I had a 705 for a few years before I got the 800 so I knew how to get the most out of it.

Westbrook were doing the CAAD10 Dura Ace for £1695 months ago and they had it in stock in most models for several weeks!

Has anybody got a bike mount for their phone? I've got a Samsung Galaxy S3 and thought it might be good to have a mount for it. I can use it for GPS etc. Just wondering if there are any recommended brands?

First ride home today in the proper dark. Let's just say that Cree ebay light is pretty damn good! I only had it on a bit towards the end, partly as I was a bit embarrassed to have it on I think other drivers might not like it lol!

My wide angle lens should arrive soon, so hopefully that will help.
