It could probably have a better GPU though. There was noise of it being close to HD7850 level,although I am not sure if it will turn out true TBH!

Even if they threw a conventional GPU/CPU set up, I'd never expect it to be 7850 level, so I doubt that's true, if it were, I'm pretty sure AMD would be suiting Trinity with it now.

To be honest, I'd be surprised if its raw power was any better than current A10 stuff, because it wouldn't make much sense.
Can't help but feel we're going to have another 7 years of poor console ports.

Playstation's in the past have been difficult for developers to programme for due to the uniqueness of the architecture, so it's good to see them going with convention PC parts... no more shoddy ports.

Hmm an A10.......I certainly wouldn't enjoy my games if I had an A10 that is for damn sure I'd be miserable! No way am I getting the ps4.

I'm going to assume that is a sarcastic comment, because nobody would be that silly.

As for the A10, this is a good thing if true, means console 'ports' will perform better on PCs due to the commonality in the code base.

Those with Core2Quads can rest easy.

Although this is estimate, AMD A10-5800K APU seems to be on par with Q9650@3Ghz (stock speed). I guess my Q9650@4GHz will easily last next gen of consoles

I hope this is said as cynical humour. As we all know an A10 PC wise, and an A10 derivative in a console would be 2 different beasts with regards to development.

I guess there would have to be a discrete gpu if sony aims to run games at 1080p@60fps and in 3D.

Indeed, I imagine a crossfire hybrid...'hybrid' is a way they shall go, APU + GPU. Would definitely be the intelligent thing to do.

Although I am not familiar with how graphics cards prices are affected yearly; if these new consoles are going to be released around late 2013, early 2014, could we see the likes of 7950, 570, or even 670 in these consoles? By then we would have even more powerful graphics cards anyway.

I'm unsure if this is set in stone, but I believe the best GPU that the A10 5800k can be matched with is a 6670, Now obviously this is PC talk. And considering that its a customized A10 thats in the dev kit, It could indeed be a better GPU it'll be paired with.

Perhaps a 6670 with extra bells and whistles bringing it up to 7000 series spec.

I think this is most probably what may well happen with regards to discrete gpu. I did read an article long time ago (can't remember the website) in which it was mentioned that a HD6000 gpu may well be utilised in PS4 considering it will be using AMD technology.

Edit: However if they were to use such graphics card, there is no way PS4 would be able to play games at 1080p maintaining 60fps. In future there may well be more demanding games.

By poor console ports, I mean consoles ports in which we use a ton of raw power for literally no IQ gain.

I'm sure developers have been given lesser development kits than final release before.

Consoles are a completely different beast, an A10 over current stuff is pretty good, but not the progression I'd hoped for.
