Are we losing this country?

We can be pretty good at component manufacture as well though. For example : we don't make aircraft any more, but we do make parts - wing leading edges, flaps, nacelles, etc.

we also make and equip the wings for every single airbus plane on the market, not just the leading edges.

also iirc the new 350xwb is account for nearly 80% of rolls Royce's business for the next few years.

Do you know that the £21,000 was the amount that you started to pay it back in the late 90s before they changed it and that was for only 5k, I think that was the max. did you know university was free?

You really have no clue about whats going on in this country, keep your blinkers on, and i'm racist because I want to close the doors on immigration etc.. thats not racist, explain to me how is that racist?.

This country needs to close it doors,if it does not then it's just going to end in a big mess.

Think about it. University may not be free, but it's hardly expensive either. Paying £21k in one go, very very very expensive. Paying it over your lifetime in relation to how much you earn (and not even having to pay it back if you don't have a liveable salary) is nothing. Tuition fees are simply a big kaffufle over nothing.

Then if they are you don't have to read them, its that simple. I’m still waiting for those that call me racist bigot etc.. to explain why I am when i have not mentioned any race etc.. just the word immigration, or is the word immigration a non white word in their eyes and if so, then the true bigots and racists are the one using those words against me.

And how do you know if i'm white? you are automatically labeling me as white which is undemocratic, and racist.

I don't even think anyone's called you white. You're putting words into people's mouths. Stop it, it's stupid.

Back up your points and act like an adult instead of a 12 year old who's had too much coffee ;)

Go and visit some other countries around the world, particularly the developing ones and then make an opinion, because your rhetoric is pretty standard fare for those whose experience of other countries is limited to Wish You Were Here or watching Hawaii 5-O on the TV.

As above really.

If you don't like it feel free to do one, the country would be better off without you.

Erm now add interest rates on top of that, add in taxes, add in living costs etc.. tell me it not expensive? now who makes money from student loans, love to know who you think does. On top of that they pay taxes during there working lives, now how much do scotish students pay,how much do european students that study in scotland pay, how much do English students in scotland pay.

offshore vital work on aircraft wings to Korea:eek:

well they are exporting 320 top skin milling to Korea over the next few years because airbus no longer wants to make anything under 18m long in house

but there will be no job loses the people are simply being moved to a different area of the site.

I would quite happily take the debt on again to go to University. I really can't see how anyone could think it's an unfair system. Yeah the fact other places get it for free is lame (If Scotland goes independent we'll see how long it lasts) but for the experience, there is no way it isn't worth the amount of money you pay. Who cares about paying a bit more money a month when you are earning.

You really believe there will be no job losses :p how many times have i heard that. How long before they start on other parts?

university was never free.

unless you also think the NHS is free.

But if you want to do a worth while degree ie engineering, then now many companies engineering apprenticeships you actually earn a full degree while doing your apprenticeship.

So money + NVQs +foundation degree + full Bsc Degree = far more valuable to employer than just a BSC and some debt.

The student loan company sellings your loans to private investors, that is why the rate now are higher, Education is a business now, its about making money.

yes i know there will be no job losses just like when hawker beach craft went belly up and stopped producing 125s all the airbus staff from that site were brought on to other areas, and that's a lot more than the dozen or so iirc people in the machine shop for 320 topskins.

Airbus has a 10 year order book atm, is taking on lots of people and is upping rates.

Aero in Britain is very healthy.

University was free, NHS is free but not for long, ofcourse you pay for it via your taxes but everyone pays taxes in someform. the work free is that you don't need to pay for it if you need it.

My point is, that for the sake of going to University, I don't care if someone makes money from it. I had 3 of the best years of my life after 1 of the worst, for like £30k, yeah that's pretty good if you ask me.

no it's not free it cost a fortune now they're simply saying "look we can't keep paying for you now so many of you are going, you're going to have to shoulder some responsibility yourself and pay a small proportion of the fee yourself, this of course will be offset by your higher earnings)

heck they don't even make you pay it back till you're earning about 4k a year above the national average wage.

they have been moving more and more jobs to India, they have Airbus engineering centre in Bangalore which is going to be used to send graduates from the UK as they are hiring more Indian graduate than UK graduates, hence why the relocation of the training center.

Wages for graduate are on the decline, infact people are paying companies for internships.

it's not a relocation it's a new center.

airbus have lots of training centers for lots of roles also the fact you get to travel during training programs is a big draw for younger people. But typically trips abroad are only for the top few % as a reward not everyone.
