BMW and M Power Owners

Just got back from BMW Park Lane.

Specced up an F30 M Sport in Estoril Blue with the professional media package and visibility package.

They had one in the show room, looked great and still looked sporty which I liked.

Arranging a test drive and will take it from there :)

Please tell me you're going for a proper engine ...

I wish I had a car allowance from work :(

They aren't often that great, but can't complain at the few quid extra it brings in each month taking the cash. It's just extra salary to me, to use it on a company funded car scheme means something like a 320d will cost me £600 or so a month!

Probably not proper by your guys standards but more than adequate for me :) 2 litre diesel.

320d M Sport

**edit**

Though as the company pays the majority of my fuel bills, the 328i looks appealing....

Our car allowance is 500 a month so after the tax man has fun its 300ish.

Right another question if I may, what really is the correct oil for the N42B20?

Forumlore seems to have it as LL01 FR 0w-35, BMW seem to want to throw LL04 0w-35 Castrol Edge at everything? Isn't that more for diesels?

Please someone help!

Errr I'm pretty sure it was 0w-35 they pulled off the shelf but now you've asked I'm not so sure I was in a rush, they wanted £19 per litre, needing 4.25l, that would be £95 for the oil. I did say it was a ten year old N42 but it apparently made no difference, it goes in everything. I did read that the LL01 FR (iirc) was specific for Vanos, but I'm not sure if that is accurate or now a superflous concern?

I will check again what BMW were offering weight wise as I'm going to have to go back for sump plug and washer and a few other piddly bits.

Need to find the oil cheaper than that anyway!

It will have been 5w30. This is LL04 approved but is probably ok in your car, though if you want the LL01 stuff it's the 0w30.

Both available from Eurocarparts at £26 per 4 litres using the SERVICE30 discount code if ordered before Sunday.

Yes, that sounds about right and explains my conflation. Cheers.

What about the veracity behind the FR and it at the time being specific for Vanos? Heard that before?

Ooooh have they got that on again? Sweet

I need shocks RTAB's and either a droplink or a front bush as well! :D

I will have my vengence on Edinburgh City Council.

I have a 318CI ES & it is more than fine in power to be honest. Thanks to it having the 2 litre engine means that the insurance cost isn't stupid either!

But if you can afford more, go more!

Do you mean LL01 FE. BMW only have 3 specs really : LL01, LL01 FE and LL04.

All have the same performance requirements with LL01 FE having an additional fuel economy test.

LL98 is now obselete.

Yeah simon that's the one, apparently it was specific to VVT equivilent equiped vehicles.

Apparently LL01 has higher ash content than LL04?

Which would you say is better for northern climate?
