**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

This has been nagging me for a while and as it's still under warranty I may as well check but what's the battery life people are seeing with low usage?

If I use the phone moderately it lasts a bit over working hours, if I don't use the phone it can manage about 24 hours which seems odd compared to even modest handsets which can go for several days with low usage.

Mine is fine for nearly 2 days with light usage etc with good signal and a few background updates one like mail all live tiles etc.

It wouldnt do 2 days but rather close to it.

Is the 800 worth 200 quid now its down in price or given that its obsolete tech App Store wise is it not worth getting now?

I think there's much better ways you could spend £200 than a dead end platform with a bad battery. 20,000 penny sweets for example or alternatively another £40 buys you a Nexus 4.

The 820 is quite a bit more than the deals currently on the 800. I know the 800 is cheap for obvious reasons but providing you can still get apps and use them is it not still a good buy?

you can go well under £200, a quick check on HUKD shows you can go to about £150 or maybe less.

Still I'd pay the difference for a nexus 4 or an 8S but if you really can't afford it then they're both a reasonable deal.

I'm thinking of the 800 for my just turning 13 year old son, he has read a lot about it and really wants it, i'm just checking he's not buying a dud! Its been said earlier that you can still get the apps which was my main concern. The deals look like I can get it for £150 ish and thats as far as i'd stretch for it, the 820 or 8s may be much better but he's only 13.

you can get them for around £120 from p4u unless this deal is gone now
value of this phone went really down...

Look on the windows mobile store. There's just over 100,000 apps available for wp7 I wouldn't expect many if any more apps for it though. It is a dead platform, but it is a great price and if the apps your son wants are on there, it's not a bad choice.

Thats all I wanted to know, sounds like it will be just fine for him :)

With Nokia Drive, do the POI in the satnav work offline?

POI?

It works completely offline if you look for house numbers, postcodes and streets and landmarks. However you may need an internet connection if you want to find resteraunts etc.

Points of Interest, I'd guess.

Yup sorry, I just always used to having loads of places & businesses added in old standalone navigation units.

I love the live support for POI via Google/Bing but the one time you need something offline is when roaming.

I'm looking at the mid price bracket for phones, and its a choice between this, the Nexus 4 and the HTC 8S.

But the 8S seems a bit crippled, and not 100% sure its £90 better then the Lumia 800.

I would say the HTC 8S is worth the extra due to the following things.

1. The 800 is obsolete and will receive no more apps
2. The 800 won't receive any more updates so if a bug is found you will be stuck with it
3. The 820 will have more features
4. The 820 will have a better resale value

I was in the same position, but after more thought I decided to not pick up the Lumia 800 even though the price has dropped. If it goes sub-100 quid I could be tempted though just for a spare phone.
