Ok, so my seagate 1.5 TB harddrive is dead. It started clicking loud, spinning took longer, and every now and then it would just dissapear (quiting the games installed on it, i was playing at the time). And now it doesn’t work at all any more, i can hear it spin but it won’t show up on my desktop, and only every now and then in the bios.
I looked up the model number (Seagate ST31500341as) and apperently loads of people have problems with that same drive.
I looked if i could update the firmware but already have the latest version, so i can have for advice, and bought two 2TB seagate's (the one's from the deal on here), and an SSD.
However, i still want to recover the data from my broken 1.5 seagate, and found this link, adviced you on how to remove the circuitboard, cut wires and use something called hyperterminal :

I've also found a few video's on youtube of people doing the same fix to the same harddrive.
I was just wondering if anyone on here ever tried anything like that before, and if there's any tips/advice they can give, as i've never tried anything like this before so am a bit worried i'll screw it up.
