Toyo T1R Proxes 195-50-15 tyres £29.89 + £2.99 p+p @CamSkill

I'll be getting PE2s again as even though they are pretty worn now they still grip well. I turn in on quite a bit of lock and they are fine. I remember the T1R at a similar wear would start to be showing signs of understear.

That is on 195/50/15 on my Almera.

Im about to order some new tyres, 185/55/15 on a Suzuki ignis sport. It came with t1r and i aint impressed at all, previous cars had sport contact 3 or vredstein ultrac sessanta.

What would you recommend in my obscure size?

Depending on how your tyres look now, I'd be tempted to stick 195/50/15 on there!

It would be a 1.5% change... so when speedo reads 30mph (if that really is 30mph)... it would be 29.6mph with new size.

1cm extra width is unlikely to make a noticeable difference in sidewall stiffness.

If you wanted to stick to 185/55/15 - looks like you can still get the old-style eagles - http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rs...gorie=1&Ang_pro_Seite=10&Transport=P&dsco=110 - i was rather fond of them

Well after last Donington trip i can say:
T1R are OK for the price .But i could feel lack of grip when i was driving. And ended up in sand pit eventually.

MilanoChris -> Obviously u never drove a car with terrible tyres. My mate had some 20/tyre on 500f polo. **** man it had no traction on dry surface up the hill around my place. IT WAS 1.4 carb polo !!!!! Now that was worst Tyre i ever saw !!!!

Fair enough - not sure where you're looking though as T1Rs are £30.95 at camskill.

If you're happy to pay £50/corner... camskill have some decent prices on other brands too.

Michelin PE2s for £52/corner & Conti PC2s for £47 & Goodyear Eagles for £46:

No fitted they don't :p Local place charges me a tenner a wheel for fitting, so that makes them £40 + delivery fitted, whereas for another tenner I could have the bridgestone ER300s. I might have another look around, but I'm a contiwhore and don't have any experience of other tyres.

The two tyres on it I'm not replacing are Milanza Heros, they look truly awful, but they'll be going on the back as I don't mind the car moving around a bit. I'd rather have some grip up front as understeer is lame and braking is important. For £50 delivered, what would you recommend? I might stretch to 50+ fitting if it's worth it.

I had the PC2s on my other E36 and they seem reasonable enough tbh, and I do like conti tyres on road.

If you like Conti, stick with them - no reason not to :)

Take a look at the mytyres link - I'm thinking of trying the EcoContact 5s when the current tyres need replacing. The girl is using the '5 as her commuter - so a little bump in fuel economy and wet grip will be good for her. They're coming in at £53.60/corner (+fitting) and I think they'll be better than the bridgestones, although I haven't tried either... so don't take my suggestion as gospel :) They are getting good reviews.

They're £46 at camskill - but they're currently out of stock :(

Go for the PremiumContacts if you want a bit more grip, but there will be a noticeable difference in fuel economy between the two - depends what you're looking for.

The Bridgestones are bad for fuel economy... I would be willing to bet you'll make back the difference in price in fuel in about 2000-3000 miles.

On the BMW - going from Michelin PS2s -> CSC5s, I've noticed a bump in fuel economy of 3-4mpg - more than I was expecting!

what's really annoying is I have a full set of conti premiumcontact 2s in 205/60/15 which are surplus to requirements but they're just too big for the little mazda.

Fairly low!

Also, anyone know the stock 15 inch wheel width on these - are they 5.5"? Will a 205 go on that?
