Last time I ran that benchmark with both cores turned on it scored 3995.

Very good score for a 7950. The best I had seen before was MilanChris with around 2150 or something. Certainly great cards for the money and a wiser buy for multi screens.

Thats why its the slowest GTX 680 its only half a GTX 690 running with SLI disabled.

Other than poor or no SLi performance I have never had a problem with a non-faulty nVidia card in any game or application.

I'm sort of in the other camp really, don't get e wrong my 670 is fantastic for games but its complete gash in autocad and sketchup (architecture work). It's worse than the 5870 it replaced.

I'll agree that nvidia feels a lot smoother I went from 7970 C.F. to 670sli and even though benched lower felt a lot smoother multi gpu and and just don't work, but with nvidia I just slotted in a third and no messing instant extra performance just selecting tri sli and away you go for this nvidia is worth the premium to me.

Just my 2 cents as I have used both sides this gen in multi gpu config's

That was the comment I received, on numerous occasions.

nVidia cards work all the time, I have never had a problem with any of them since moving from Windows XP and that was only dodgy SLI driver support after W7 had come out.

Yes you can get a 'faulty' card but that's true with both ATI and nVidia.

There do seem to be a hell of a lot of faulty MSi HD 7950s though.

Wrong. That's your experience but don't pass it off as general fact. nVidia cards don't work all the time neither do AMD cards work all the time. The failure rate (bar a dodgy batch from a partner) are similar.

If you're going to post bias remarks then at least state that your comments are bias rather than trying to pass them off as fact.



Yeah - definitely a bad batch there. One of mine was also faulty.

He didn't state that anything was a fact at all he was giving was his personal experiences.

Which he emphasised with his next comment.

Thanks mate. I've saved up for 6 months and it does look awesome. Me and my friend built it. The CM storm scout 2 is a great case. Very happy so far and the GTX 680 is the icing on the cake. Cheers

Your a lucky man then, because it shouldn't. 680 is the smoothest card I've ever owned. Sorry to say but i can't say that about the 7950. Ever gpu is different you got lucky

Its not really a stock gtx680 though. Reviews have said at stock the superclocked boost clock can often be over 1200+ mhz not the 1124 mhz stated. Most gtx680's will boost a good bit higher than what the tin says.

Once you overclock it, i am sure you will be even more impressed.

You're correct in that he does then go on to say that it is his experience but the post is basically saying buy a worse performing nVidia card on paper and it'll be better because they work all the time.
