I came straight here to mention the email I got from Clove but it seems it's been covered. :)

I got a little excited and was prepared to place my order immediately, then I saw the price - £520! Are they havin' a laugh?

I know they're a business and when supply can't meet demand that's a recipe for high prices, but I don't like it and won't play. :p It's bad enough EE/Nokia/P4U are shafting us, without all the other suppliers using the situation make a killing.

My limit is the price it's costing to buy from Amazon.de

Your Amazon.de order is domestic therefore once its released will probably need international shipping cost added. The Red via Amazon is going to be around 630 euros which is £500. So £20 to get it in the next 2 days (rather than a completely unknown date) is not bad at all.

p.s. I just checked and added all 4 of the available Amazon.de colours (as sold by Amazon.de and not a 3rd party) All of the colours EXCEPT yellow will allow delivery to the UK. Yellow throws up an error and requires you to remove it from the basket to proceed.

As the others are listed as domestic shipping only just like the Yellow, either the Yellow is a freak error or actually the phones will not ship international.

If unlockfrog is just asking the network for the unlock codes then I don't understand the point of their service. If the network would be willing to give them unlock codes then surely they'd be willing to just give people them if they called up? Seems to me that you could just skip the middle man :p if the network is playing ball of course.

If you're thinking £520 is a lot compared to £459, that 459 price is a slightly subsidised price I think. PAYG phones are usually tad cheaper than unlocked.

Speed test at home has given me close to 6MB a second, so where I work must be poor speed, which given there's an Orange mast close is odd.

I'm not sure what to do really, I don't like the 1GB cap even if I don't use that much ever :) (don't fence me in).

Unlock frog does have this message on their website :(

Devices supplied by or locked to EE are NOT supported by this service.
This is for Orange UK Nokia devices only. Lumina 920 is not supported.
Please email [email protected] and we will let you know when this service supports EE.

I thought they wouldn't get it from the network provider, I thought to would try and crack it or something

Rubbish, sorry guys. Unlock frog is a no go then. I hope that Orange do not turn around and reject mine. Orange have advised they are going directly to Nokia not EE so there should be no issue. All they need to do is check that the account is in good order, i.e no missed payments etc and then they apply.

Phones 4u have updated there website i believe?

White Nokia 920

Red Nokia 920
Please be aware this handset will only work with Orange, T-Mobile & EE sim cards.

Black Nokia 920
Please be aware this handset will only work with Orange, T-Mobile & EE sim cards.

The middle man skips all the BS customer service people who play by the silly rules EE will have.

But it's worth asking EE anyway.

Do you know when you will know the result of this?

That may all be true, but I gave myself a price limit and when the PAYG price was revealed I decided on that. (I thought that was high.) But then I upped it to the current Amazon price as I wasn't prepared to be locked to EE, or pay their ever increasing prices. As much as I want the phone, I'm going to be strong and wait. I can't keep agreeing to pay more and more and more...

PS The price has dropped slightly on Amazon.de to 597 Euro

Hopefully they wont do that in store, its one way of forcing them to unlock it I hope, as they are not selling as advertised.

EE phones are actually locked to T-Mobile.

I know this because I was in an EE store working for Intel the last weekend and Orange phones ONLY work on Orange but T-Mobile stock is used for EE.

EE contracts are also done with T-Mobile systems.

I don't know if anyone wants to try unlocking a 920 using a T-Mobile UK unlock. If I had one I would try it myself but based on what I told you - that there is no specific EE lock - a T-Mobile one should work.

looking at their site, they offer unlock codes from orange UK only - I know they are part of the EE group, but will the unlock work as the network listed on the phone is EE??

edit - just has live chat with them

Me Hi there Im interested in the lumia 920 unlock
1:31 pm Ashley - Hi , This model is currently unavailable for unlocking on EE most likely for the next 2 -3 weeks. Best to check back then.
1:31 pm Me Ok, thank you then

Yeah they have changed their site since I spoke to them I think somebody mentioned above. So just so we are all clear, at the moment we are pretty sure that a firmware flash will not unlock the phone and we believe it is a hardware lock.

Yes, I have tried generic GB, German and Vodafone Italian and none of them worked

Photoshop:

I think they need to improve the notifications. They don't work seamlessly enough imo, especially with Microsoft's Facebook app which needs serious improvements on the notifications. Im hoping we will see regular WP8 updates.
