Just spied this .... a 920 for £399.

http://forums.wpcentral.com/lumia-920/200539-14.htm

WOOHOO! Picked up a PAYG £399 (+£10 top-up) Black 920 from the EE Store.

I called an EE store in Guildford today and they said they wouldn't be selling payg as they don't have much stock. So I chanced it and called another store which is just 2 minutes down the road and they had 1 payg handset in stock.

One more back in stock as I returned mine to P4U and Im going to wait for the Germans to come through.
The girl tried to tell me that any foreign phone wouldn't work on our networks and the reason EE had locked the phones was because they would work with O2 and Vodafone as they don't have 4G!!

I did that but the translation was iffy.

anyway ive sent it now. left the last 4 and first 6 of the numbers clear, blacked out the remaining and also the check/sec digits on the back and also sent my Passport picture/details too

I think the point of it is to not give them the full details since any hacker or rogue employee could then go off on a spending spree with your details.

Sometimes I'm really glad I'm technically minded, you really do get some amusement on the daily basis from the absolute garbage that some people try to pass off as fact.

I just feel sorry for all the others who get taken in by it.

Anyway, the audio quality of the phone when making calls is brilliant, just a shame Orange/T-Mobile coverage is ropey around here. Just called EE to port my number across and they couldn't hear me. Looks like it's time to get a landline installed. O2, 3 and now EE, all have bad call quality where I live.

Been following this thread since page 66, would like to thank everyone on here for all the up-to-date info!

Been trying to post since Thursday but took forever for my account to activate, so my post will be a little dated now...

I ordered a black model on orange on Thursday, Saturday morning got a dispatch email estimating delivery for around Tuesday, arrived Saturday lunch time!

Couple of thoughts:

The screen and the OS is beautiful. Everything is so slick and shiny.
Camera is every bit as good as everyone says about low light photos, takes photos that my dSLR would be jealous of.
Facebook app is simply awful, but that's not the end of the world.
Music player is also pretty poor interface wise, but given that I'm coming from an iPhone, it was never going to compare. I'd imagine once I get used to it, it'll be just fine.
Occasionally sound will be incredibly quiet when playing music and volume doesn't change despite putting it up to 30/30, a restart fixes it.
The weight issue is nothing. All the reviews that gave it lower marks for its weight should be shot.

you need to consider that firstly its hard to get and it won't work on all networks. so yes we could pick up a 920 on Orange from EE for £399 plus a top up but who knows if we will be able to unlock it before next Easter!

If I had a contract with any of those networks then that price would be a bargain.

Two options for unlock, code from EE and they're not offering right now or hack which risks bricking the phone permanently in some cases.

Oh and the outside chance someone breaks the encryption or "borrows" a copy of the code generator.

So are the Clove ones a UK spec?
Put an order in with them, think Ill cancel the cyberport order now to be honest.

Royal Mail if it's just the phone.

Or Yodel if there's a speaker or free gift with the phone. So don't worry, your phone is now safely in your garden pond or hidden in the drain in front of your house, handing on a piece of string.

Mine had the speaker and it came royal mail special delivery saturday morning.

LOL am I the only person that has the speaker. (Its silver and white not black to match the phone), it comes with a 1200ma micro USB charger short 3.5mm - 3.5mm I guess for aux input, to pair with the phone you tap the top rear of the phone to the top front of the speaker where the small nfc logo is.

Phones4u, pretty much as soon as someone posted the link to orange/t-mobile contracts (I'd already decided as long as the contracts roughly matched what I was expecting I'd go for it asap!). Order was processed at 1pm Thursday, phone arrived 1pm Saturday, can't complain!

I would wait until you get a device in your hand, you don't know yet if your clove order was quick enough to get stock, so keep your place in the queue until you get conformation of shipping?

Was thinking that, but knowing my luck both would go out and my card gets hammered lo,.

what i don't understand is,if you can get t mobile contracts in store.why are t mobile themselves taking ages to get the handsets in. (thats if you phoned them to place your order). i mean i tried phoning them but it took ages.so i hung up.just sant to know if anybody else phoned t mobile and is in the same predicament as me?
im so gutted..justcwabt the damn phone in my hand

Hi, Unfortunately we have been informed that we will not be getting the Nokia Lumia 920 unlocked until the new year now. Nokia have opted to just supply this product on high tariffs with EE only. Another phone option that has just come out which might be of interest to you is the new HTC 8X, which is a windows 8 Phone. Really good specification phone at a great price to. Plus it is in stock now and unlocked.

Sorry that we cannot now supply the 920

Kind regards

There goes my hopes for an unlocked one anytime soon!

I'm pleased I have a genuine unlocked and unbranded 920 coming tomorrow.

I hope there is an unlock for my EE version when that arrives so I can keep the unbranded unlocked handset and sell the EE model.

Does anyone know where we can get the official Nokia case? as white and any glossy colour is slippery as hell.

With no speaker?

Having got one of these yesterday, I'm finding it hard to decide whether to keep it or sell it and get the 8X.

I'm sold on WP8, and having come from Android (Jelly Bean) I'm finding the experience much slicker and more enjoyable. The animations and snappiness of it all makes it great to use, and the lack of apps hasn't bothered me yet.

The 920 itself is also a great phone, with technical specifications that can outdo any of the competition. The camera is impressive, and the screen crisp and bright. My issue with it though is partially the size and mainly the weight. I want a phone that feels solid and well built, but the Nokia is just a bit too big and bulky to feel comfortable in my hand and pocket.

I realise everyone's opinions will differ, but I guess my question is will I be giving up too much by changing to the HTC? The features that get the most attention seem to be the ones I am least likely to use, such as the camera and 4g. I won't get a chance to try the 8X till this weekend, so I've got a few days to see if I get used to it. Otherwise, on to eBay it goes.

You'll be giving up a huge amount compared to the 920. All the apps, the camera, the screen, the storage.

Plus if you are after build quality and a solid phone HTC is NOT the way to go. There have been problems with build quality on the 8x's already.

I'm not just saying that because I work for Nokia either. We have competitor devices in the office for people to try out. The HTC looks quite nice but apart from that there is no comparison from my side. Beats is just a fad too.
