Probably a grey import from Europe or some other source. Maybe they change the charger over for a UK one? Or perhaps Nokia sold them a few to alleviate all of the negative publicity the EE deal has generated.

Just as an aside, EU law has some pretty powerful protections for consumers in it in these sort of situations - if something is available in Europe, the presumption is that it should be available at a similar price in all or Europe, to attempt to create one large 'super-market'. I suspect this means that there is only so far exclusivity deals can go without running the risk of anti competitive behaviour (and the fines for that are absolutely huge.)

Trouble is, the anti-competitive rules tend to only apply to a dominant company abusing their position. Nokia doesn't have enough market share to qualify for that.

I have to say that £399 plus £10 for a top up is pretty amazing if only it wasn't locked to EE networks.

Having said that I think that is a worthwhile investment. Eventually it will be unlocked and then we have a chance to make a profit on it.

Are we sure you can actually go into a store and buy one?
Does anyone know if these £399 orange phones have the same sim lock as the phones4u ones or if they are locked to orange only? I want to use my virgin sim which I know works on phones locked to T mobile but not orange.

I always kept mine in a slip case when carrying it around. Scratches tend to be from keys.

Nominate a pocket for your phone and only ever keep your phone in it.

Never mix coins/keys with the phone pocket = scratch free phone.

I have never used phone covers of any type and have never scratch my phone screen bar once, when I put my keys and phone in the same pocket in a ruck sack... never again :)

for heaven sake. got an email from cyberport:

I believe google translator is saying that "still need the credit card details both front and back" but I did email it to them with the last 4 and first 6 digits showing, the rest blocked out!!!

There was a secure link you were supposed to use instead of emailing it?

Why block the numbers? They have your credit card details!

That's pointless and also suspicious to the seller. I understand why you did it but they have that information and your protected against fraudulent use anyway.

Ever since I first got my first smartphone (iPhone 4), my left pocket has been phone only. The result is that after two years, there's not a single mark on the front, only a couple of scratches on the back, and that's it. I did have a case for it, but only ever used it when I was on a night out.

Given how well the 920 has done in all the smash tests, I think it'll be just fine!

Very true - I'm not being precise. It's really more of a free movement of goods issue - market share some bearing on whether restrictions on free movement of goods will be proportional, but it still makes it all but impossible for Nokia to ban imports etc or maintain large exclusivity periods.

Also does anyone know how to access uploaded animated gifs? I'm also a bit surprised that they don't play natively in the photohub given how touted the feature was.

I'm importing Liquid-Armor from the US for my Nokia 920, it's too big to put a case on without adding bulk, but I want to protect it the best I can.

$34 on Ebay (including Shipping + Import Fees + Duty etc...). £21 after conversion, much cheaper than any decent case would have cost.

You spray the solution on to your device then rub it in and spread it over the device (therefore unlike a screen protector you can protect the entire phone, front, back and sides). There's a video of it in action here:

If they ever get this in to the UK market then I will never buy a case for anything again.

I'm 100% certain that you both have small hairline scratches on the screen.

They are only visible if you tilt it into light after you have polished the screen to remove dirt and dust but they will be there.

And they are the most annoying because you thought you kept it scratch free.

Email is not a secure system, it gets relayed via numerous servers on its way to the destination server.

In the past spammers harvested information and email addresses this way.

Therefore you don't trust email with your credit card details. I'm pretty sure the bank would see this as negligence if there was fraud.

Yes, things have improved on the mail server security front but you don't know if your data will end up on someone's laptop and get lost.

well they sent the link, i uploaded it and they sent an email back saying to submit the credit card details again. so ive submitted, online on their link, the full credit card details/image without any blacking out of numbers

Got a despatch confirmation from P4U at 4am this morning, should mean it gets delivered today. Good news... except I'm out of the house between 8:30-9:30. Hopefully they'll leave it with a neighbour, otherwise I'll be going home to disappointment!
