Xmas already !

When I was in my teens shops etc having Christmas stuff up way too early used to really make me rage!

I am 25 now and I don't know, I kind of like having this 'winter' type period Christmasy and having my own house now I do enjoy making it festive!

I put the tree up only a few weeks before Christmas last time and I ended up regretting it as before I knew it, it was time to take it down again

What i hate about xmas is the tree, the decorations, the music, fake jolliness, rubbish presents, buying presents.

What i like about xmas... the food and seeing family is ok.

The presents part we don't do (so no stress there) and I think the tree, the decorations and the music adds to the atmosphere. I know in my house the jolliness is not fake, nearly all us guys have about 2 weeks off over Christmas and more alcohol than normal is consumed for starters.

I think we are much happier compared to two random weeks in Jan or November.

My town spells and sounds similar to the OP's (Stratford vs Stafford!), but my local pub is already kitted out. Some shops in the town, likewise. Christmas lights switch-on is this Saturday, although I have seen the lights switched on a few nights already over the past 2 weeks.

Dont mind it as its time off, but it's the build up to xmas I dont like, makes me depressed, and awkward xmas parties where you cant remember anything after 9pm (allegations of coming on to colleagues wifes and a few days later producing a picture on facebook taken at approximately 9:15, not too shortly after I had dinner of me, necking a big wine chiller which was filled with ice, replaced with wine, beer, spirits, Christmas decoration and a bread roll), then there is the people trying to get in to my room when I am vomiting.

God knows what's going to happens this year

Hope I dont come on to the MD's wife :(

And new years, the build up annoys the hell out of me, used to be good back in the day when I was more of a raver :p unfortunatly this year I will either be on call xmas or new years

My son is three and he loves christmas as much as I do. He's been asking when he can have xmas songs in the car again. I love that he's into it as much as I was/am. Sod the presents, I just love the whole build up and fun. I buy loads of christmas stories to read to him, we drive round and look at the decorated houses and it's just nice to see him getting excited.

Driving home from work after my last shift prior to an extended spell with my family is as good as it gets apart from our summer holiday. I just love it. :)

Classic post DJMK4. I've done stuff like that too, not the Facebook bit (as I'm not on it thanks God!) but I can relate to everything else :-) E.g. taking a bottle of gin to a NYE house party, can't remember anything past the midnight count-down, waking up the next morning to find that there's only a quarter of the bottle left, and I'm like "did I really drink all of that?!"

Increasing your capacity works wonders in combating that. ;)

I love Christmas and all the build up to it, even I don't want to see anything Christmassy until Dec 1. First weekend of Christmas we go get the tree, decs go up and the cheesy Christmas music channel goes on the telly :). Love it!

Hmmmm.... Time to start looking out for the special offers on Baileys :)
