GT86 Advert - Banned

so there was live action for all of two seconds where the car drives off into the distance and that is bad.

why do people not have more pressing issues to address?

They don't depict real life circumstances and it's clear they are for entertainment, so I can see why they are okay.

The Toyota advert is CG, while the NFS advert is live action with a guy doing donuts in front of cops while holding up a barely pixelated middle finger?

You are confused, the two adverts you say are bad are not advertising cars.

The advert was banned for condoning dangerous driving. It had nothing to do with it being a car you could actually buy.

And the NFS advert is going to have had some funding from Ford as that version of the Focus ST isn't in the game, yet the game is full of billboards advertising it.

I think everyone understands that rules were broken, we all just think the rules are a joke. Watching the advert did not make me want to go out and drive recklessly or dangerously.

I think your last sentence is pathetic...

Maybe not conciously, but it is promoting a "speeding" culture, which is unaceptable on public roads.

Rubbish. Those game adverts do more to promote that than this advert. No indication of speeding whatsoever, it's just a case of fun = speed in the ASA's eyes.

........oh and Hurfdurf disagreeing with everyone shocker!

The ASA are an enigma. Several hundred complaints were made about an advert for the car supermarket and the complaint was upheld. They were told to take it down. Then they stuck two fingers up at the ASA and ran the adverts again. The ASA when approached said that it "wasn't in their power to do any more." Riiiight.

Yes because when I see a car going fast in an advert I immediately decided I must do the same. I cannot think for myself...

This is what i was thinking

OMG I SAW SOMEONE DRIVING FAST ON A 20SECOND ADVERT, I BET I CAN DO THE SAME!"

Is it advertising a car?
No.

Its advertising a game where you pretend to drive fast.

That's why it's acceptable.

We had the black ops two adverts on for the go for a couple of weeks with live actors holding guns and knives, are they saying its ok to shoot each other?

No, they are advertising a game where you pretend to shoot each other.

The NFS advert is not advertising a car, it is advertising a computer game so somwhat unsuprisingly it is not covered by the regulations around advertising cars, just like the regulations on advertising cars do not apply to adverts for toasters or holidays in Spain or tampons.

The fact that some people can't understand that is so pathetic

How is top gear allowed on tv.. I hate moaning people.

Just.. really?

I dont agree with the ASA regulations but will people stop spouting rubbish like this? Top Gear is not banned by the ADVERTISING STANDARDS AGENCY becuase it is not an ADVERT.

Fair point

Lol that you are care mad enough to check my post history.

Mission acomplished.

The S2000 is a fabulous track day car and capable of being fun within the limits of british roads and laws.

But a little more fun outside them :-P
