Audi owners in here!

Well, unless your car is randomly sparking everywhere, then what would cause engine oil to catch fire? The block isn't going to be nearly hot enough to cause a fire by radiation alone.

So how do cars catch fire in the first place?

The oil wasn't just on the block it was on the exhaust as well. In any case, why the 3rd degree over what the mechanic said to me?

Had my S3 265 Quattro since early August and love driving it. Nice and quick - best car I've driven so far.

My dad has a 58plate s3 and my mum has a 56plate a3 with the non turbo 153hp engine. I don't have a car yet cos insurance prices are quite expensive.

Is that the Technik spec?

Also my car is poorly...suspected DMF failure and going through the motions with the warranty company. Rattles on startup and around 60-70mhh it just doesn't feel right.

Garage thought the torque converter was going (no idea what this is!) but is 99% certain the cause is DMF. W e shall see!

It is SE Technik spec, yes.

Torque converter is part of an Automatic gearbox. A typical Automatic (IE not an automated clutch type box such as DSG/S-Tronic) will not have a DMF, infact, it won't have a flywheel at all.

Question for anyone with MMI 3G with SD card readers. Does your MMI/AMI play music through the SD card showing ID3 tags?

I've added a load of music to a 32GB SD card, and whilst everything plays fine, it is showing me file names rather than ID3 tags (of which I've double checked are present in the files). Everything I've read suggests that it shows ID3 tags, but I don't seem to be getting that result.

On the VW system it defaults to displaying filenames, you need to go into the setup menu and change it to show id3 tags.

My TT's journey through 'the common faults' continues.

The corroded exhaust heatshield was removed yesterday. Recently, cold starts had deteriorated in to an alarming cacophony of clattering embarrasment. However, a crowbar, one local mechanic and some brute force quickly sorted that problem out. Next job, squeaky brakes...

I should sell the damn thing, but I dread to think how much its worth now.
