I like the S3 - its probably the hot hatch Id chose if I had to buy something like that but its absolutely not an 18k car.

I am struggling to understand what you mean; it is an £18k car because there arent that many sportback S Tronics available for much less than £18k, and I dont want a 3 door.

The points he'll be making is the age of the design and lack of full MMI etc doesn't make it worth the asking price (in his eyes), they are all valid points to be fair. But, if you want one you want one and thats the going rate.

Absolutely this. Good cars but not worth that sort of outlay in my opinion.

Yeah I think you're both right. I would like some sort of medium sized hot hatch thats comfortable and practical though and the S3 sportback seems to fit the bill.

How much more usable space does the A1 sportback give over the normal SB? Just thinking if practicality is important then the A3 would have been the better bet?

Anyway heres my new chariot!

I present you my new company car, its a Audi A4 Avant SE technik, sadly a zzzzzz 2.0 diseasal. Whats even more sadder and depressing.......I actually like it! Ive specced a few bits and bobs like heated seats, adaptive xenons and the tech pack high, which means it has the fancy satnav with the bigger screen and can play dvds and video's of the Ipod/SD cards.

The MMI system is actually quite impressive, and as usual the fit and finish inside is superb, its a very nice place to be. I like the way it looks too.

Sadly the plus points end there, it rides well enough and handling is ok, but jeez why the hell do all VAG cars have naff all steering feel.It really is the equivalent of a grey suited marketing executive.

But I didnt choose it for its dynamic ability, it was the best of the bunch for the price, had Volvo been able to put a decent manual gearbox in the the V60, i'd have had one of those!

Not really any more space with the sportback other than the added rear doors. Personally prefer the 3 door.

I would say if you the back seats are used regularly you would be better off in a A3/bigger hatchback because there really isn't much room etc in back. :o

No New A3 Sportback yet. I have been waiting for my A1 Sportback Since May. If i waited for A3 Sportback would be almost 12 Months without a Car.
Your A4 Looks good :)

I've got an old mid 90s A6 2.5tdi...an old 10v lump that should have a Massey Ferguson badge.....nice to drive but slow....but then it's built like a tank and only does 35ish to a gal, but I guess that was the days when no bothered as much about the price diesel as they do now

My silver/chrome trim in the A4 has got a few scratches/knocks from what looks to be rings or something from previous owner.

The inside is immaculate apart from this, where is the best place to get new trim from?

Also do you think 3m Di noc may look good in Carbon Fiber??

Although I don't actually own this anymore (sold it earlier in the year) I figured we could use some retro Audi-Porsche-ness to this thread: :D

Spotted this new A3 today. Didn't even realise they were released because I haven't seen any others on the roads...yet. From the look of the seats etc this just seems like a basic SE TDI (company car probably?) version. Still think the looks have grown on me a lot since seeing the first pictures of it. :)

Back looks smart, front looks ok, side looks a lot like the outgoing model tbh. Looking at the lack of DRLs it looks like a boggo spec. The current face of the audi range looks smart with the DRL's but not without :(
