Call of Dooty: Why has gaming descended into CGI?

I remember as a kid jumping in to Doom and pretending I was an MI5 agent. Wouldn't be possible with all those stupid yanks shouting stuff. Hooooah

I am a very sad panda :(

Ive chased the feeling of cod 4 since cod 4, this will be my last.... honest!

Infact I did, got it from raping Hollywood, god that's years ago!

also dizzy>chucie!

Thing is, it is mostly us older games who are now aged around 30+ who moan about all the boring FPS games and how they are all the same, reason is they are and we have played far to many over the years and are now totally bored with them all. It is the young kids who buy them and love them to bits, just like we did when we were that age. When they get older they will be hating them like we do but they will have kids who love them to bits.

NO! I refuse to admit its because im over 30, the fact im 31 has no impact on my life what so ever, I do not get a achy knee when it is cold and I do not find my self having to re-focus sometimes when I am working on small components and for the last time YES I do need to pee again, problem????

:D

This is why i also play ARMA (just now finsihed a game fo 20 ppl) WoT and i will be playing Star Citizen the new space sim (see below)

I've not played this newer one or warfighter, but i'm guessing there's lots of cut scenes where you jump over a gap, fall short and start to fall but someone grabs you. I think every game in the recent COD/BF/MOH series has had at least 3 of those in there.

I've played so many shooters over the years and I think the only reason I don't have as much fun with call of duty as I had back playing cs1.6 or quake is that I'm older now, I wish I was able to enjoy any games like I did back then but I have other commitments now,

The games are much better designed now, it's me that has gotten out of touch, not the games, they are better than ever

typicaly alpha is pretty much full access to a product thats being made and is probably fairly buggy and feature incomplete

like a paradox title at launch, for example :D

is just perfect.

Glad I'm not alone in this :)

They've just been filled with clutter. When it comes to the actual mechanics of current fps - moving and shooting - what we have these days is far less demanding. Try loading up something like RTCW or ET, then give blops 2 a go - the latter is far more chance based and easier to play.

I think on the whole it's been a great year for games the only real genre that is stagnating IMO is the FPS genre, COD is the catalyst for this stagnation but it's not too blame like most claim it to be, it is the COD imitators that are at fault for this, don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of COD as a franchise I think it's been getting weaker with each iteration since the first modern warfare but there is obviously a market for the game or it would not sell in the huge numbers that it does.
COD was the first to move away from the WW2 setting that dominated the FPS genre before MW & it paid dividends for them then, developers need to be brave enough to be different now for change to happen.

if you think of any new shooter that you can make, you'll find it's been done already or very similar, what is there left !

you can only make a variation on an existing game, just like designing a new car, it's only age related because you've played so many, but very similar sequels dont help at all...... because Borderlands 2 is still on Pandora/ claptrap/ Marcus/same vault hunters..... Jesus Bloody Christ, it would be so easy to locate it on one of the 6 other planets, this would change it totally

Crysis 3 :- still in NY, same Nano suit, enough said....Bioshock 3 looks the same, fallout 4, FAR CRY 3.....all of these could've been different.

so no, it's deffo the developers faults, it's done to save money, plus the same guys are still working there and they're huge fans of the original game, so it goes ``lets make a new game, similar to the 1st but with some improvements to this that and the other``, they then mention it on the forum but all the die-hard fans want a return to the 1st game, ``make it like the 1st FAR CRY, that was a brilliant game``.........so there you go :D

what about DOOM 4 ? Well it has to be a single player only, just like all other horror shooters and it has to be located either on a planet in space, or back on Earth, so by default this will make it like Hellgate London/ Gears of War/Doom 1 and 2/ Resident Evil/ Serious Sam, this similarity cant be helped.

it'll be a guy with a big gun shooting zombies and Demons that jump out from every corner, it'll be very dark and look just like Stalingrad circa 1944...because it does already in the photos !
