Hitman Absolution Pre-Order.

Why do people rely on reviews so much, finding out if one person is enjoying the game has no bearing on how you might enjoy the game...

I've found this game to be a refreshing break from BF3 and the likes..

As a HUGE fan of the previous games, I'm really enjoying this so far. I was VERY critical of when we first saw the footage in the hotel sneaking by cops, escaping. However, when it game to play it was actually great fun, and then the section after it is awesome, with a few options at hand. There are a few linear ish missions in there (the worse case so far being the Orphanage one, didn't enjoy that so much. I made it a shoot out in the end), but in general you have plenty of options at hand. If you like Blood Money, I wouldn't miss out on this.

Having played it for a few hours now, i have to say i agree with the PC gamer review and with what most people are saying on the Hitman Forums.

Everything he says is true^

Yes, it is not a bad game in its own right but it is not the Hitman we have come to love and isnt a patch on Blood Money.

:( £17.55 down the toilet. This is actually the last game i will ever pre-order now. Sad.

My only hope is that they release an expansion that is in effect, Blood Money, using this gorgeous graphics engine with all the good stuff put back in. Saves, disguises that work, large open levels, doors that you can close, weapon choices, briefcases for rifles (rather than hiding them up your rectum) e.t.c. I won't hold my breath.

The difference between lowest settings at 1050 and ultra +4xAA@1200p is 2 FPS average. What. Taking the GPU up to 1100 adds 2.5fps avg at ultra. Getting 34fps avg maxed out with this rig (36fps at lowest)

This drivers or cpu?

I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit, it's not as good as Blood Money but there are still plenty of neat ways to take targets out. I think the reviewer for PC Gamer is looking through rose-tinted glasses as even in Blood Money you weren't granted much more freedom, it still boiled down to finding the various 'traps' you could set.

I agree that the lack of quick save is a real shame as it does discourage the sandbox nature that I have always enjoyed in previous games and I'm hopeful that will make a return.

I don't mind the changes to disguises and the AI is no worse than previous games, Hitman games have always relied on your targets doing the same thing in a loop so it's not like the AI has ever been that accurate.

The graphics are very good, the bloom effect is a bit overdone but for the most part the environments are great and certainly help offset the smaller levels.

Short version - I'd still recommend picking it up, it might not be GOTY but there is still plenty of fun to be had.

My first impressions of this game are that it's pretty good so far, the graphics look great even on my modest rig, movement animations are a lot better then BM & the levels I've played are highly detailed with lots of options for kills & different routes to take, though they are broken up into smaller sections then BM, I can understand why this choice was made.
Bad points for me are the lack so far of pre-mission weapons selection which I sorely missed & can't see why it's not included, if the devs wanted to restrict weapons on a particular level for story reasons fine, but not the whole game (please correct me if you get this option later in game), the concealment of some weapons is very immersion breaking & gamey would it have been that hard to show 47 strip the sniper rifle down to smaller parts rather then have it vanish into thin air!
On the whole I am pleasantly surprised by this, it feels like a Hitman game, I'm not sure if it's better than Blood money yet but I'm glad I bought it.

I never bothered with either hitman or splinter cell in any of their previous incarnations so my view is from a virgin position.

I love it! Really enjoyable with solid game mechanics. Graphically its pretty good too though it has a certain loook.

I stayed up till about half two last night trying to ace that first level, I like that there are a variety of ways to do it, although im still only scoring about 35k,

knock out the guard by the car, set off the car alarm, take out the boss with a headshot, hide his body, go up to where the sniper rifle is, kill the goon and take his uniform, go down and pick up the documents, leave

What can i do to improve on this?

Same here, I'm finding that changing graphics settings doesn't make much difference to fps or to the visuals either if I'm honest. What's up with that?

Various ways, here are a few:

Find the Fugu fish from one of the food stands on the right of the pagoda then use it with the bowl of food at the back left of the level.

Use the fish with his coffee (with a chef's outfit you can get onto the pagoda).

Use the fish with the drugs in the dealer's apartment.

Wait for King to take a leak by the mopeds in the back left and shoot the chain holding the cargo so it falls on his head.

There are also some explosives by the car if you want to make a mess :)

You wont get as much points with a straight up kill, you need to make it look like an accident for silent assassin points

Guys can you help me out. How do I interact with things such as those medicine boxes on the wall? I wanted to use the pills in there to put into someones coffee but had no idea how to do it?

The medicine boxes on the wall are used to restore your health and are only available if you've been injured. There are other pills around that you can pick up :)
