FAO people with very low cars.

A little plastic ramp like JP posted, got mine from a camping website. Got (stole) the idea when an AA guy came out to sort a problem on my golf which was dropped somewhat.

I'm surprised Nissan let you jack up the GTR ;)

Haha, They don't want you to, in the compartment where the towing eye and wheel nut spanner sits there is space for a jack but you don't get one!

Come to the RR day and ill tell you what I think about Nissan ;)

If there is no spare wheel why would you need a jack?

To jack it up at home and change from summer to winter wheels and tyres, new pads, new discs, do general things at home without bending over for nissan.

Whatever the reason, there is an injection molded type space for a jack but they want you to pay silly money to get the chrome plated nissan one with a gtr logo on it.

Engraved with the GT-R logo, this stunning 2kg chrome-plated jack is capable of lifting 1170kg, providing safe and secure under vehicle access.

Price (fully fitted): £197.16

They also sell floor mats for a grand...

Is that really dissertation level stuff? fml

Assuming its the research into, and then design and manufacture of that product, it sounds like a pretty decent project to me. Better than some of the boring essay style projects out there (like mine).

Just like they provide the socket set to change the brake pads.... oh wait, they don't.

Is there a spare wheel option at all? We have the same foam in our cars, the pump and goo comes out and a jack goes in if the customer takes the space saver spare wheel option.

EDIT: Crap handle on that one aswell! I hate it when then are not cranked. Just the thing for the proficient home mechanic... not. Do they give you a spoon to take the wheel nuts off 'cos that would be as much fun as using that jack.

There is a GTR branded "snap on" tool set but it costs like 700 dollars (not sure about GBP price).

No spare wheel option, no space for one and the car has runflats so no need for any goo.

When I bought the car and was getting the "show the customer everything on the car bit" I saw the hidden tool compartment with loads of space in it and asked where the other bits are and was told jack and tools are an option.

Yeah, I laughed when I saw it and the price. Surprisingly the wheel nut socket wrench is actually pretty good, it doesn't hit the alloy when you use it which is nice.

Lol at people thinking you need to do a certain something to make it dissertation level

It's the content that counts and with enough research and thought you can put enough content into anything you want .

Buy a jack which fits under the bumper and gets to the front jacking point (lowered DC2 on coilovers.

I use the same jack for the rear but with a block of wood on, as the jacking point is too high to get the distance required between the rear side jacking points and ground if just using the jack.

This is only a small part of the whole project, not to worry ;)

What did you do your dissertation on?

Sounds very simple tbh, we did a car jack design in one of our First Year modules.

Dissertation was: Production of Nitrogen Doped Graphitic Nanofibres and Mechanical and Electrical Testing of Biomedical Nanofibre Composites.

4th Year Group Project: Variable angle compressed air golf ball cannon able to replicate amateur and professional spin levels.

^ Project was full of win!!!!!!

Either have someone lift the car up until you can fit a jack under or use a scissor jack, (they can go very low profile), in saying that im going to raise mine back up, its ruining the underside!
