7950 + 1440p BF3

I play 1440p BF3 with my 7950 @ 1100/1350. I have everything set to ultra, HBAO, FXAA high, but with no MSAA, and I get over 60fps (usually 70s) with the exception of a very few small dips to 50s. All in all, it's very good. I'll get some hard data on this up tonight when I get home just in case I'm deluded! For some reason MSI AB wouldn't show fps on BF3, but I just installed the new update so I'll see if that's fixed. If not, FRAPS it is.

Well i expect to run my 7970 at minimum of 1150/1719. I can go to 1203/1823 if needed. I'm hoping that will be enough for full ultra.

I'd say you could, but at 1440p MSAA is a really big hit, so I doubt you'll get 8xAA. Especially in BF3.

I'll have to check, but I may actually be running 2xAA. I'll see if my gf is home to turn on my pc

Just done a couple of quick runs on Firestorm on a full server, about 30mins each stint. Everything on ultra including 4x MSAA, 16x Anisotropic Filter. 1st stint checking fps with Afterburner by glancing across! didn't notice it drop below 50 and maxed out at around 65 allthough! too much tearing for my liking. With vsinc enabled it's a lot better.

2nd run for about 30 mins, I dropped the MSAA down to 2x and the lowest dip I noticed was around the 55 mark and maxing out around 70. I suppose if you drop the AA down to 8x and run the MSAA at 2x it would run better still. Obviously a lot more detailed tests would show a lot more of an accurate representation.

CPU! 2600K @ 4.8GHz.

You're going to wonder how you ever lived with 1080p. I got mine thinking I would just play more demanding games on my 1080p monitor. I couldn't I would rather play them at 30fps than go back to 1080p. As it is, I don't have to :)

This is the dance you will be doing when you see BF3 on ultra on your new 1440p monitor :D

I can back up exactly what geeman said regarding performance. With my OC of 1150/1625 I rarely see dips below ~45FPS and for the most part it's above 55FPS. More importantly it just feels very playable.
 
Thanks to both of you.

The best thing is my memory will overclock much further than both of yours posted so im confident that i will get good performance. I may knock aa down to x2 just for the extra fps if i feel its not smooth enough.
