Reinstalling Windows 7 on a SSD

I am going to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my SSD, do I need to format or secure erase the SSD before I reinstall Windows or will Windows do this for me?

I'd do a secure erase first. Windows will just run a quick format.

Which is the best program to use? I have a Crucial M4.

I've just been reading that the secure erase will restore full performance, is that true?

1) Dunno, check with Crucial. I used the OCZ Toolbox for my OCZ Vertex 3.

OS & programs are already on the SSD. I am going to install a fresh copy of Windows.
