There is a big reason to choose her tbh. She was the poster girl, stupid amounts of pressure for years and she overcome it all to win.
That takes a lot tbh. More than 99.9999999r% of the population have

Jess Ennis for me as there's a mix of skill, stamina and mental pressure involved, she was the face of the Olympics remember, the pressure must have been ridiculous - road biking is all stamina (an insane amount of it, granted) :p

I've added a poll now so I hope the Admiral doesn't mind.

It's a very tough year to decide as there have been so many exceptional performances by British athletes throughout the year. For me I think it really has to be between Bradley Wiggins and Andy Murray - one managed something that no Briton has ever done before and the other won a Grand Slam for the first time in over half a century. For my money Wiggins shades it although I'd have no arguments if it went the other way - both have won the greatest events (or one of) in their sports this year and also won gold at the Olympics as well.

It's possibly harsh on the rest when you consider that the list has so many great Olympians who may not have the opportunity to compete in events of the same profile as Wiggins and Murray did but then again that almost makes it more impressive.

Not really, it takes a huge amount of skill and thought. It's not like running where you can switch off, you're constantly watching the wheel a couple of centimetres in front of you while keeping track of the overall race situation. And in timetrialling good bike handling can take a huge amount off your time.

Yeah, definitely no mental pressure to road biking

God, absolutely all of them... Well, excluding a couple...

Andy Murray
Bradley Wiggins
Ben Ainslie
Chris Hoy
David Weir
Ellie Simmonds
Jessica Ennis
Mo Farah
Rory McIlroy
Sarah Storey

Any of them.

Sarah Storey I'd rather they gave a lifetime achievement medal to or something though. Chris Hoy probably doesn't deserve it as much as Wiggo this year if you're going to pick a cyclist.

Andy deserves it, but I can imagine him getting nominated in other years, so... yeah, I just don't know this year. normall it's really easy.

I think Wiggo, or Andy should probably win it, that said it's a bit unfair on the others. David Weir and Mo have done incredible things this year in their relative sports. From a sheer achievement point of view, I'd almost argue Jess is near the bottom of the pile... Which really is saying something.

Wiggins will win it, however McIlroy with numerous wins in Europe and US, as well as topping both moneylists and winning the Ryder Cup and another major probably should win it but won't as it's been a crazy year for sport in Britain.

Not at all mate.. Damn meetings :p

I've gone for Jess, because the pressure for her at home must have been excessive.. but now I have voted, my feeling is that she has plenty of years to do it again.. Wiggins on the other hand was quite an achievement.

Save arguement, give it to a horse called Frankel

Of course if you're going to be a pedant there is mental pressure in all sports, but I don't beleive getting on a bike and racing out over weeks where results can ebb and flow is the same as having to nail your "once in a 4 year thow / jump / run etc type pressure on the day.
