I cant multi quote for some reason - this was in response to Brok

i started a similar run, but depending on gear and MP level those nasty phasebeasts can get you in the crater and slow you down. there is an alternative shorter 1 that is also good that i use for the key runs:

- start at kill the siegebreaker quest
- pick up tyrial from the last wp
- head to keep depths lvl 3 (always 2 - 3 elites in here), wp out
- rakkis crossing and the fields - clear and find the cave (100% spawn i think) 2 - 4 elites in the cave and resplendant chest, and 2 or 3 outside
- stonefort for the key warden, kill everything

though in about 20 runs i've still had no key.

unbelievable Jeff, 2 set items in 2 days - the first ever. probably won't sell though :D

This is brok's run:

The run I found worked best for me was as follows (yes its a version of the Alkaizer run )

Set checkpoint outside Azmodans Lair if not already set there.
Do Core of Arreat in reverse.
WP to Tower of the Damned 1 and clear
If only 2 stacks at this point, get 2 stacks from Keep Depths 3 then WP to Arreat Crater 2, else if 3 or more stacks, WP straight to Arreat Crater 2 and clear to zoneline
Zone to Tower of the Cursed 1, check first 2 screens for elites and shrine
WP to Keep Depths 1, check first 2 screens for elites
Zone to Keep Depths 2, clear as much as you can until you hit a dead end, then check the map. If rest of the map is nearby, run and clear it otherwise teleport out
WP to Rakkis Crossing, clear from the WP to Fields of Slaughter
Clear Fields of Slaughter.
Rinse/Repeat until wrists break.

With Hellfire ring and 31% gem this should net you roughly 12-15 million exp and take from 10-20 minutes depending on your gear, movement speed abilities and practice.

My Act 3 run is as follows, again a variation of Alkaizer:

  • Start last quest on Act 3 to kill Azmodan
  • If you are outside Azmodans Lair, then start there and clear back to the WP for Core of Arreat.
  • If not then clear from Core of Arreat WP until you get the checkpoint outside Azmodans Lair.
  • TP/WP to Tower of the Damned Level 1, clear in a circle.
  • WP to Keep Depths Level 1 - check the local area until you find an elite and kill it. Once done TP back to town.
  • WP to Keep Depths Level 1 again and go into Keep Depths Level 2. Clear this area in a rough circle. TP back to town.
  • WP to Arreat Crater Level 2. Clear until the zone end and then TP back to town.
  • WP to The Bridge of Korsikk. Clear Fields of Slaughter. I always go into the Caves here as well and look for Level 2 ASAP for a chest and 1-2 elites, plus occasional goblin. TP back to town.
  • WP to Keep Depths Level 3. Clear this area, normally 2-3 elites. TP back to town.

Optional: If you are on high enough MP, I would recommend going to Stonefort and killing the Keyholder. I play on MP3 and have collected 7-8 keys in this way. This adds time but if you still need a decent Hellfire ring it's worth doing to save you time later.

Optional: I also sometimes do the Rakkis Crossing back across the bridge to the Fields of Slaughter.

I always start the same, but like to mix it up after Keep Depths Level 2 is complete. You can really do the rest in any order.

I find on MP3, including the key run it takes me approximately 30 minutes to do this run. My gear is OK not brilliant (83k unbuffed DPS). I get around 16 Million~ XP, a 30% chance of a key, and normally around a full inventory of iLVL 62/63 items, Rings/Amulets etc, sometimes more, sometimes less.

I really hate Fields of Slaughter, too open and takes ages to run around it, but I still run it. Much prefer Keep Depths.

EDIT - Put one of my crappy Hellfire Rings on my follower and updated my helm gem to 31% XP gain (19 Million for one of these, ouch!). I now have 230% unbuffed MF on MP3, down from 234%, and 103% XP gain up from 92% :)

1.0.7 to come out before the end of the year, has things the fans have been requesting for some time now, apparently.
I can only imagine that infinite dungeons are one of them. Nobody cares about PvP and nobody's been asking for it either, so I don't think it's that.

I don't care about PVP either. Blizzard cant balance classes at all, even with PVP gear there'd still be a class that dominated and one which was absolutely crap (witch doctor).

Infinite dungeons would be epic.

The game has been taken over by botters though tbh. Even casual players have resorted to it as they don't have the time or patience to grind 12 hours a day to find items they need to upgrade or sell for upgrades.

The game definitely needs more stuff to do. I decided to craft all 21 hellfire rings I had the organs for - all but one were naff. The one I'm keeping leaves my DPS unchanged, adds vitality but loses all res. Overall EHP is higher though so I'll keep it.

As I knew would happen, my urge to continue uber runs has now diminished since chances of finding an upgrade are evidently so low.

I think I'm just having a lull in desire to play the game at the minute so I'm having a break. Looking forward to trying out Far Cry 3 this weekend :)

Nooo don't leave D3! :) I must admit the semi decent hellfire ring that I crafted a while ago has made me think its not worth doing uber runs much anymore.. But I am enjoying the HoTA barb build, aptly named whack-a-mole barb by faceless :D

Whats a HoTA barb build?

Its a build based around Hammer of The Ancients (HoTA). I first saw the power of it on Kongors twitch stream. Basically, stack attack speed, crit and movement speed and run between mobs one shotting them with HoTA while trying to maintain constant WoTB. Its a bit like playing diablo 3 with a fast forward button pressed. Quite high gear requirements thought, check out my profile:

Faceless has better gear for this build so can probably farm comfortably at a higher MP. I haven't invested much in specialised gear since I mainly play WW..

D3lirious if you are having some time out and would like to loan me ur mempo feel free :)

Sorry to hear that D3. I agree with you a little. I am still enjoying grabbing a few Paragon levels though until they sort out some more things to do. Likewise if you want to loan any gear whilst you're not playing I would appreciate it, Kinetik has dibs on the Mempo though :D

Nooooooooooo!!!! :p

Had a bad feeling that mite happened, gotta b stupidly lucky with hellfire. As u no iv had about as much luck as u. Ive cut back the ubers awell and focused on paragon leveling instead.

As kinetik said iv been playing wack and mole barb a lot recently and its absolutely beastly, its keeping me interested for now. Ul b missed d3, hopefully new stuff isnt 2 far away ;)

New Everquest expansion is out today so taking a break to play with that for a while. Literally nothing to do once I hit paragon 100 so will see what new content is released further down the line.

Wack a mole has been my build since 1.05 and it rocks. I have a slightly modified version though with an SOJ and animosity and stacking max fury. I have 99% crit chance and with Into the fray I get constant fury so don't need bash. It also means my paper dps really doesn't reflect actual by a long shot

http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Lanthor-2967/hero/5284365

Some nice additions there. I had thought of using a soj as well but not considered how crit chance would stack with max fury and HoTA. Do you manage to keep max fury most of the time then to maintain the high crit chance %?

Ive got a hota cold soj and having 15 extra fury is pretty sweet now that 100 fury means 100 crit chance, the buffer is very handy. Saying that a mighty belt is enuf to get the extra fury. Soj isnt vital to the build nor is the extra fury, imo its all about as much attack speed as u can get.

I can keep u wotb 90% of the time, even on mp 0 with or without soj. To do it u need to dump a lot of fury tho so high cc and very high attacks per sec triggers into the fray more when ur low from booting it around like speed gonzales (with a massive hammer) etc:D

Also d3 i dunno how ur skorn is gona carry across to wack and mole, whats ur attacks per second?
