Almost had a near miss on the motorway today

if you guys are going to degrade learners in here whats the point in taking information in here when all you lot do is bash the OP.

We're "bashing" you, because all you have done is start a thread blaming other motorists, then claimed you HAD to do 35MPH over the speed limit just to remain safe.

The ONLY person in this entire ordeal that needs bashing is YOU.

It's admirable that you still see yourself as a learner (we all are), but someone with next to zero driving experience should not be trying to out drag things on the motorway at 100MPH+ just so they don't miss their exit.

105mph

I am disappointed :( no where near the gallusness of PMKeates and his public road shenanigans

Guess i could have been slower then probably i would not have encountered the lorries near miss ect.

we all make mistakes though probably part of the thrill of speed aswell that made me over take them both at 105. we live and learn and we only have 1 life.

OMG,, whats the point in posting in the motor section of ocuk.
you lot think there bloody amazing, far superior to us learners, and whats my grammer got to do with my driving. (grammer police) there is always one.

Being able to communicate in coherent English helps people understand what you're trying to convey.

I am having difficulty fully understanding what you're trying to say here, proving the point that "grammer" (hahaha) nazis have a point when complaining about your posts.

I think you've used more words incorrectly than you have correctly in this post, which is pretty bad.

"we live and learn and we only have 1 life." and you wonder why people are bashing you? That's more than enough reason not to drive like a fool. When a collision happens, it's not just yourself that's in danger, you put other drivers in danger too.

If it was your first time on the motorway why didn't you just stay in the left lane?

Much safer for you and everyone else on the road, until you are used to it all.

just saying.

Have you never been a passenger on the motorway before this? Lorries do that all the time. With experience you'll see that situation unfolding before you get there and will already have planned your move in advance. HINT: Flooring it and zooming passed, before jumping back in for your exit is NOT the correct course of action :p

You weren't in the blind spot of the truck were you? Reads a bit like that to me.

Lesson learnt I guess - give trucks a wide berth on the motorway!

Remember lorries have massive blindspots, especially foreign registered ones with the driver on the other side. Always assume they can't see you and drive accordingly. They have the potential to kill you without even noticing otherwise.

Also if you get stopped at over a ton you'll get banned and have to retake your test. Worth thinking about.

Saying things like " first time on a motorway" and "105mph" isn't going to end well on here :D If you were overtaking the lorries in the middle lane at the correct speed with your exit approaching cant see any reason why you had to accelerate to 105mph to effectively move over to the right and overtake the lorry that pulled out in front of you. I could understand 75mph - 85mph but i really think 105mph was excessive. Obviously you were there and we all weren't so i guess you did what you thought you had to do.
I think it's just down to your inexperience of Motorway driving tbh. The safest and best thing to do would either slow down and take the next exit if you missed the one you wanted or overtake but not as fast next time...........in fact what was wrong with just dropping back to the inside lane behind the lorry if your exit was that close ? As already mentioned its not good to go past someone at those speeds to then cut back in across 3 lanes to make your exit.

you wont last long if you keep doing those speeds. Surely you must have seen lorry driver do this sort of thing before, you should allways expect a lorry to pull out on you at some point on a motorway its just a fact of life :D no excuses for doing that speed though even if you were needing to turn off. why couldnt you just slowed down and waited to turn if you knew your junction was coming up?

Tut tut tut :(

I've known someone be let on their way with nothing but a stern telling off for over 100.

Like I say - it's likely but it's by no means certain to be a straight off ban.
