E-Cigarettes in the work place.

why be surprised? theres a lot of other things you cant do at work as well.

Just because someone has an addiction doesnt entitle them to anything above anyone else in the work place.

What sort of example is that? :confused:

They're not real in so much as they don't burn, they give off significantly less crap and as far as I'm aware aren't prohibited in the workplace under legislation.

For all itents and purposes, I see no reason to ban them, unless you want to send a message about the image of smoking.
 
Never seen anyone at work use these, but if I was office manager I'd ban them because:

- It simulates a disgusting habit. I wouldn't allow workers to pretend they were masturbating just because they weren't actually masturbating :D.

- It could make it harder for people that actually have the willpower to stop smoking without needing a dummy to suck on.

- I don't care what it smells of; I want a neutral air environment without being forced to sample vapists' favourite flavour of air freshener.

But you can't legally stand outside and openly masturbate, can you? At least, not the last time I did. :D:p

You wouldn't have a problem with tea and coffee being banned at work then? Given caffeine is the mostly addicted to drug on the earth.
 
Whenever I fancy it and have time to raise hand to mouth :D TBH when I'm busy I don't bother, even as a smoker I'd only smoke after lunch or while nipping to the bank/shop etc

Never read the leaflet that comes with your over the counter ibuprofen?

Pretty much everything from nausea and stomach ulcers, to liver failure are listed on there.

antidepressants have a black box label by the FDA (same thing cigarets have) but are still deemed safe.

heck Olanzapine lists "sudden unexplained death" as one of it's side effects in it's leaflets.

Also last point "if cigarets are harmful why can you buy them from chemists??"

None of which compare to the almost certainly non existent threat of second hand vapour.

Firstly, nicotine absorbs very quickly into the blood stream. Anyone that takes a proper toot on an e-cig will be breathing out virtually zero nicotine.

You're argument is as strong as saying people shouldn't be able to eat red meat before or during work in case they breath on someone and red meat causes cancer, as some studies suggest.

It's a ridiculously alarmist attitude that has no rationale based in the science.
 
probably a daft question but it will save me trawling through a multitude of spam sites if I search the answer...
All this talk of various flavours for these things leads me to ask one question....do they come in cigarette flavoured?
 
Smoking of any type is banned onsite where I work. Workers have to physically leave the grounds to smoke if they so wish.

Personally I don't see the big deal with e-cigs however I do think that people should tackle their 'addiction' problems. I do not believe smokers of any type should be given extra breaks or time to go and get a 'fix'. If something is affecting you to the point where you can't sit and work without the need to sneak off for a hit of chemical then you need to sort that out!

no it's a factual attitude to your point of

"vaper is 100% harmless" when it's not, the risk may be low but it's still present and it's also unpleasant I've been houses of vapers and after a whole it starts to smell a little weird wouldn't want it i nan office.

plus not sure the boss would be happy you blowing plumes of water vapor at his monitors for 9 hours a day.
