Landrover swimming

The point the Police are making is that despite the capability of the vehicle, flood waters contain hidden hazards such as collapsed road surface, hidden submerged obstacles / debris and it's easy to get disorientated in water and end up off the road surface itself, all of these things heighten the likelihood of the vehicle getting stranded and the already stretched resources being wasted rescuing the driver in question. Resources that could be put to better use elsewhere.
Putting it another way, despite it having a much higher air intake than even a snorkel equipped Landy, I would not dream of taking my Scania HGV through obviously deep flood water for the very reasons I mention above.

Time & place for taking your 4x4 for a swim, I don't think this was the best of them. :)

Not to mention exhaust, you're pretty much amphibious! :D

they didnt complain about the tractor going down a closed road.

Of course they didn't. Probably because the tractor lives within the road system that was closed off and is there to serve the other farms and fields. The tractor has a job to do, as in, livelihood, not just going through floods for the lolz.

I don't like tractors though :(

Its a difficult line; the land rover was prepared with a snorkel and the driver knew the area; however the road could have been washed away, and/or the flow of water could have been a problem. Standing water has its dangers, but flowing water is much much more dangerous.

I guess the police are thinking about incidents like this.

This guy is doing everything right and has a properly setup defender; but would i be putting my 3 yr old into that situation.... no. so he did everything right, but is still a knob?

oh and the police aren't immune to it, they just think there normal vehicles can wade lol

These guys should get darwin awards!

Bottom line is that water can be dangerous..... stop and think before you go wading into it.

But thats your job and would be carrying stuff for someone.

This is this guys hobby.

If I drove down a signed closed flooded road in my truck, I promise you, should something go wrong & I got in a fix, I would not have said job for very much longer!

I've been scalded by the GF already at wanting to fit a snorkel to the new Disco. :(
She says it'll make it look ugly!!

Like a 2m high 7 seater Disco 2 looks pretty to start with??????

Women!!

(it's getting one for Christmas anyway and sod the flack I get. :D)

I wondering if you'd post in here, get it then you're REALLY ready for winter :D

I know the road well.

My parents and brother live up near there, My bro reckons people use it all the time when it's flooded.

I personally wouldnt but then again i don't have a landy.

Agree with what your saying in the most part however if my mum/nan etc was getting mugged or whatever the other side of that flood I would expect the police to try and get through to save her etc.

Its their job at the end of the day and they were responding to a call.

If they get half way through push it the rest and then it starts I would be happy.
