1 week and still no internet.

Get a mobile dongle/data sim for times like these.

Or just go mobile broadband permanently. I get a 15mbit unlimited connection with Three! Handy when the best hardline I can get here is standard ADSL :p

Didn't have internet in my flat for a year when I was in China, just wasn't an option. Fortunately, internet cafes were insanely cheap, and located roughly every 3 metres down the street :p

i am with sky broadband.

suddenly a week ago my internet went down.
after a few phone calls and chat sessions its been escalated to bt openreach.

not happy but what can i do.
had to pay £5 a day for that btwifi and fon service just to check my emails and website etc etc.

have you ever been in this situation before and had no internet for longer than a week ?

Yes, parents went 3 weeks cold turkey as the BT cable was destroyed. It took BT 3 weeks to sort out.

Parents business took a knock as couldn't answer emails for 3 weeks :/

No BS here, they were great for me and that's exactly what I said. They were there at 8 the next morning after speaking to them 6 at night, so perhaps not 12 hours :p

In which case you were either very lucky, or have a business account.

Their T&Cs for their residential services quite clearly state it's not for business purposes.

Lie to them and say you run a business or work from home.

I needed a fix and they told me two weeks, so I told a fib and send I needed a fix ASAP as I worked from home and the net was vital for me, they were there within 12 hours.

I did this, told them i had a business and told me they will start charging me commercial rates if this is true. I was like just fix it please haha.

One of the many times iv been shot down when trying to give BS. ;)

Welcome to the world of BT!

In the last two weeks i have had maybe 1 out of 8 escalations accepted and even then it took BT longer to assign a case handler and even look at the escalation that it would have quicker just to stick to a normal fault. Not a great deal you can do besides wait to be honest. What part of the UK are you from?

bt guy just been out.
mine and next door line was shattered.

the fault was another engineer had been out working on some other job and damaged a load of stuff knocking lots of people lines out.
