Call of Duty: Black Ops II

The game keeps freezing my xbox tonight - just to add more BS to the experience...

I've had that twice now. Game freezes up my xbox and I can't even turn my Xbox off by the power button!

On another note I maxed out the R870 earlier. Got all camo's and got it to max prestige :D

had to have a laugh , was playing game earlier and these 3 guys kept spawn camping so i decided to stick around my spawn and take them out, after killing them a few times each ( was using the m8a1 and the 1st launcher ) they upped and quit as thier k/d dropped. Had another round where my team was utter pants on the map with the straw bailes at a and c, the opposing team kept taking all the spawns whilst i was at the opposite end getting the other but was able to lob a nade in getting triple and double kills in the 1st round, whilst running to recapture it 2nd round came up and the dudes i had kept killing had quit, even though thier team was winning with a health lead. Though i do admit the nades were more of a lob and hope that it killed them before they took the flag.

I'm fed up of players perma sprinting round insta gibbing me with a knife. So irritating when you shoot them a couple of times, they don't die then 1 hit you with a knife.

That's where a shotgun is your friend. One shot will stop them in their tracks :D

I don't think it is. You only save about £5 really. Plus there's no way of knowing what the content will be. If some of it is just Zombie maps then i'm not interested in them at all.

This. If there is even one zombie pack, like blops1 had, it isn't worth it to me. Just not a fan of zombies, will play for achievements then leave it be.

Thing is, If i try it, i just get taken out before I can get near people.

This game is fundamentally broken, and plenty of others know this. The Black Ops forum is full of rage about this.

I've gone back to playing BF3 with dedicated servers and its a breath of fresh air. People aren't reacting quicker than you and you feel on an equal footing.

Its just a question now of whether VM always gets beaten with the lag compensation stick in every lobby. Hopefully Konvict can feed back on that as the Mrs was non too pleased with me paying £50 for new broadband "because i'm fed up of lag in COD" lol.

That's what gamers do. It's the same every year. Even COD4 which most of us loved had a forum full of people complaining about some weapon, perk and so on.

If I made a game that sold such stupidily large amounts each year and had such a constant large userbase online every day you would have to assume they were just whingers. Especially when you looked at their gamertags and realised they had put a month per year into each game they whine about.

I literally have no clue how bad a game they would have to put out to stop people buying it each year.

To be honest, i think they have the weapon balance about right.

Nothing feels overpowered, the bouncing bettys and shock charges are over used, but easily countered by running engineer which is a very early unlock so its a non issue.

Likewise with UAV, you unlock stinger from day one so just shoot the things down.

Its just this constant swing with the lag compensation. You are either on the wrong end of it and behind the player in front of you, or they are and you're shooting people ahead of them and winning artificially. I don't think i've had a game where it felt fare for everybody.

And what seems worse, is when you're on the wrong end of it, so is your team. it seems that when i go massively negative and can't hit a thing, so does my team and we end up getting rinsed until they rage quit, and then other players join in who aren't gimped by the lag compensation and then manage to pull it back a bit.

People dropping out halfway through because they can't hit anything and go massively negative happens every game. Likewise with host migration, how often does this happen !

Its not like its just me, it seems everybody has it.

I have played this game enough now to comment on a few things I have found that are useful:

1: Having a stock on your assault rifle is essential I think, I have it on my SCAR and I now win most close quarters battles with SMG users.

2: Having select fire on certain guns make them godlike, the FAL on full auto is probably the best gun in the game I think. The AN-94 and SCAR on burst fire are devastating.

3: Ghost really helps, I have caught so many people dot chasing since I unlocked it.

Sorry if that's all common knowledge, again though if you haven't got a stock on your AR get it on it's great.

Apparantly the connection issue isn't Activisions/Treyarch's fault, its ours.....

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" has come under some serious heat since it's release last month. It seems that the now billion dollar franchise is experiencing the same lag, connection, and hit detection issues that plagued last years "Modern Warfare 3" during it's release window.

Call it lag compensation, bad net code, or buffer bloat... the reasons all seem to point at Treyarch... unless you're Activision. For them, they seem to think it's the user's own internet connections that need fixing, so naturally, they released a step-by-step guide in order to fix said connections.

The guide states:

"If you are experiencing lag while playing online, the best solution is to play the game over a wired Ethernet connection rather than WIFI.

If this does not apply, or if you are still experiencing lag, please follow the steps below.

PlayStation 3

1. Disable any firewall or security features on your router.
2. Set port forwarding on your router to the IP address of your PlayStation 3. This game uses ports 36081, 3074, 3075, 3478 UDP (User Datagram Protocol) and ports 80, 81,443, 3074, 5223 TCP (Transmission Control Protocol.)
3. Disconnect your router and try the game. If it works regularly at this point something about your router may not be completely compatible with the specific needs of this game. Check with your router manufacturer and Sony’s PlayStation 3 Connection Issues page for additional steps that may need to be done to resolve the issue you are having.
4. Place your PlayStation 3 into the DMZ of your router.

If you are having issues connecting while multiple PlayStation 3 consoles are connected on the same network, try forwarding the ports 36081, 3074, 3075, 3478 UDP 80, 81,443, 3074, 5223 TCP for one PlayStation 3 and setting the other as DMZ. There is a chance that this may not resolve your issue, if it doesn’t then you may want to consider getting an additional public IP address by contacting your Internet Service Provider and assigning it to one of the consoles.

NOTE: If setting port forwarding or DMZ helps your connection issue, you may want to assign your PlayStation 3 a static IP address within your home network. This can help to ensure that the configurations you made do not need to be done again. You can visit PortForward's Static IP Guide for a detailed guide on how to do this.

NOTE: Many broadband internet modems are coming with routing capabilities built in. Please contact your internet service provider to determine if your internet modem has an integrated router. If it does, they should be able to assist you with the steps above for setting up your router.

Once you have verified that your network setup is not the cause of the issue, try connecting to a different server. Some servers may have other players connected to them that you do not have an optimal connection with. In most games this is accomplished by backing out to the main menu and then selecting multiplayer again. From there you can try connecting to another online game.

Moderate and Strict NAT types may have issues connecting to online matches. You may get the error "Notice - The game session is no longer available." If you do then enabling UPnP, forwarding ports 36081, 3074, 3075, 3478 UDP 80, 81,443, 3074, 5223 TCP, or placing your PlayStation 3 in your router's DMZ may resolve this issue. Please consult your router documentation for instructions on how to do this.

Xbox 360
When playing the game online, the minimum speed of your network should be 128kbps. The ideal network speed for playing the game online is 768kbps. If you are having a problems with lag check the following:

Network Troubleshooting:

1. Disable any firewall or security features on your router.
2. Set port forwarding on your router to the IP address of your Xbox 360. This game uses port 3074 (UDP/TCP). Additionally Xbox LIVE requires ports 80, 53 TCP and 88, 53 UDP.
3. Place your Xbox 360 into the DMZ of your router.
4. Disconnect your router and try the game. If it works regularly at this point something about your router may not be completely compatible with the specific needs of this game. Check with your router manufacturer and Microsoft's Xbox Live Connection Issues page for additional steps that may need to be done to resolve the issue you are having. You can also verify that you have an Xbox Live compatible router.

If you are having issues connecting while multiple Xbox 360 consoles are connected on the same network, try forwarding port 3074 (UDP/TCP) for one Xbox 360 and setting the other as DMZ. There is a chance that this may not resolve you issue, if it doesn’t then you may want to consider getting an additional public IP address by contacting your Internet Service Provider and assigning it to one of these two consoles.

NOTE: If setting port forwarding or DMZ helps your connection issue, you may want to assign your Xbox 360 a static IP address within your home network. This can help to ensure that the configurations you made do not need to be done again. You can visit PortForward's Static IP Guide for a detailed guide on how to do this.

1. Try connecting to a different server. Some servers may have other players connected to them that you do not have an optimal connection with. In most games this is accomplished by backing out to the main menu and then selecting multiplayer again. From there you can try connecting to another online game.
2. Run the Xbox Network Self Test to see how strong your NAT is currently set to. Once the test is completed you will be notified if there is an issue with your connection. If you select "More Info" you will be given information about your NAT type and some steps to resolve any issues with your connection.

Moderate and Strict NAT types may have issues connecting to online matches. You may get the error "Notice - The game session is no longer available." If you do then enabling UPnP, forwarding port 3074, or placing your Xbox in your router's DMZ may resolve this issue. Please consult your router documentation for instructions on how to do this."

I can't believe they are trying to fob people off with the 'opening ports' excuse for the lag compensation.
