what is your opinion of chipotle?

We have a nice little Tex-Mex placed called Illegal Jacks that I go to for lunch quite a lot.

I don't think there are any of the big American chains in Edinburgh... And I've never been to America, so haven't had the "pleasure" of experiencing Taco Bell :D

So much faux Mexican **** around these days. The restaurant chains are worst for it, presenting dishes barely considered Tex-Mex much less Mexican.

Well Benitos Hat is run by Mexicans and Chilangos always blog on how send teams over there to discover authentic ingredients and preparation so I think I'll take their word for it :)

Slightly OT but does anyone else have problems with tacos? Mine just shatter upon chomping. Is this an unavoidable issue or do I simply fail at Mexico?

Taco isn't full enough. I suggest upping your bean filling to add stability.

Chiptole is not owned by McDonalds. They bought themselves out which is why they now have high quality ingredients.

In London, Chipotle>all. Tortilla coming a close second. Benitos hat is shocking!

Need more authentic Mexican restaurants in the UK, tbh. Visited one in London, can't remember the name, but it was overpriced and the walls were covered in hot sauces they wouldn't allow you to use. Seemed a waste, but the mini tacos were quite nice.

Exactly. There's too much tapas/spanish food and not enough real mexican food. God I love mexican food. I need a burrito right now. With some really hot naga chilli sauce. None of this "it's super duper hot, you're such a man for eating this really hot pepper sauce" that turns out to be tabasco.

Never new Chipotle was a place to eat. I just thought it was a dried chili lol.
I've had Chipotle, but never been to one..

Agreed! Burritos are such good takeaway food too, since it's all wrapped up nicely. I tried a Mexican place here in Westminster and it was terrible - they put so much salt in the beef I never went back.

Yep, or they try to get fancy with the fillings and make some lemon chicken that doesn't go with pinto beans.

I used to find My Burrito in Bristol acceptable, but in no means would I consider it to be a good burrito.

the burrito is the supreme form of food imo. It's a mexican sandwich, but better contained and with a full hot meal inside it. Tell me what other food can meet these criteria with such style?
