What's your ice/snow removal strategy?

I drive while sticking my head out the window.

'Tis well safe and I look like a boss while pumping those bassy tunes..

I remove it by getting into my car, which is in the garage. Pressing a button to electrically open the garage door and gates, and drive out.....

Srape the ice off the outside and inside
start the car and drive off with the window down to stop the windows fogging up (no heating of any kind)

I turn on the engine
Put blowers on max at the windscreen and enable rear de-mister
Get out my Shell points card and scrape like a mad man and complain to self i should get gloves.

Get in car, start it, turn on lights, rear screen heaters and put the blowers on the windows. Get out, get rid of ice with deicer if I have some or use an old card/scraper. Get in, drive off.

Always prefered a scraper to de-icer, .. but managed to scratch the windscreen on my 3 series the other day. Still dont know how a plastic scraper scratched glass, guess there must have been grit mixed in with the ice.

Looks like trying the toothpaste on the windscreen method to try and get the scratches out now.

i didnt think that was actually an offence so how did u get fined??

also if its on your drive its on private property so they can do one

It is actually an offence to have a car running without the driver in it unless specifically diagnosing problems with the engine, let alone leaving it unattended.

i love my car.

open door
sit
shut door
start engine and heated screen start automatically
take my phone out of my pocket
browse ocuk forum for 2 mins
drive off

Start car
Heater directed to windscreen
Scrape windscreen
Drive off whilst my window goes frozen again
If the sun is low I pull over as I can't see from glare
If it's dull I can scoosh the washer and carry on

What ever you do, don't put Vaseline on the door seals to stop them freezing. It damages rubber, so it'll end up making things a whole lot worse.

Use Gummi Pflege instead :)

Recently bought some of this, think it was around £5-6 delivered, seems to work well!
