Regardless if they took down a particular IP address, you'd still be able to resolve it in the DNS, even if you can't ping it. But www.facebook.com disappeared from DNS records and it appears it got replicated across multiple DNS providers.

I doubt Facebook could be taken out by DDOS considering it's getting requests constantly from a large number of computers anyway.

Depends on the data file size being spammed right? You could technically take down even google with a DDOS large enough, afaik. To be fair I have no idea about that **** lol
