That time of Year: Xmas bonus and pay rises

i guess the title annoyed me a tad and im sure im not alone as its one big trollololol to us less fortunate, more so at this time of year.

petty maybe, but after the jobs one we had a few months ago i thought the forum had grown out of epeen waving when it came to jobs and pay, guess i was wrong.

I got a £20 giftcard as my Christmas bonus, though we also get some cash in our next pay. It works out as a percentage of our mystery shopping target. Think it's pretty good this year though.
I spent the giftcard on whisky within 5 minutes of getting it.

and here we go again, "look at me, look at me, im doing well"

grats on the pay rise but seriously take it elsewhere. some of us haven't even had a job for over a year.

There are jobs out there, if you can't get a job in a year then that's a fault with you and no one else.

We won't get ours until january but I'm hoping for at least 10.5% or we (friends employed at the same time) will be a little annoyed. We don't really get a yearly bonus so...

yeah its my fault iv screwed up my leg working that means i cant do anything where id be on my feet all day. i had to quit the job i was doing (agency so got sod all for that).

at the moment i get to hit gym a couple of times a week (static weights for some reason dont effect it and actually help me) and walk the dog for 3 miles a day and thats my limit. but dont worry im sure its all my fault for working a physically demanding job for min wage.

damn my lazy ways.

im sure there are jobs i could do but thanks to living in a small northern town full of not very much im rather screwed (my work program adviser even said that to me), but im sure im just not looking hard enough.

My company usually give a token gesture of some Amazon vouchers at Christmas time (not heard anything about it so far though :() as the promotion, pay rise and proper bonus stuff is done on the tax year.

I think you're taking it too personally, I don't think the OP intended it in that way. Sometimes it's just interesting to see what other people/companies get come Christmas time.

My dad got his first payrise in about 6 years last year...

Mum on the other hand got a 25% payrise as someone else offered her a job and her employers counter offered.

A pay rise of...wait for it...£2 per week! Before tax and NI.

They sent me a letter saying how happy they were about being able to give me a pay rise. That was irritating - they're ridiculing me already, there's no need to rub it in.

Bonus? That's the thing we briefly got for a few months a couple of decades ago when the company committed itself to a bonus scheme related to profits and actually paid up. There's a pretend bonus scheme with some prattle about it every now and then, but nobody cares because it's never paid. Not that it's much anyway, even if it was paid.

But I can pay the bills and that's what counts the most.

I had my guaranteed hours reduced from 40 hours to 24 hours 4 years ago.
We also had our staff cut back from 15 to 6, we've only now (well about a year+) started to grow as a business. Our wages and hours are still not back up, but hoping by mid next year to finally get our hours back.

I'm not interested in a pay rise or bonus, one of the only reasons I've stuck with this company is because i love the work. It's also a company I've worked for since leaving school, i have too much loyalty to the company to up and leave at the sight of a pay cut.

I'm not saying if it were to happen i wouldn't care, i'm saying i'd be happy to take a hit to stay with job i love.

Sad but true.

I hate to say it but I doubt they would have the same loyalty to you if push came to (who to) shove. IMO find a new job that will give more security.

Bonus is worked out with a review in June and letters saying how much usually in late July. We got a Christmas present but I thought they were all kind of dull so I ordered four bottles of wine for my parents. Raise last year was 5.4% which isn't bad at all and I get a monthly bonus based on customer satisfaction and a small sales bonus. Unfortunately it's come to the point where if. Didn't get the bonus for some reason I'd really be struggling. Hasn't happened yet, thankfully.

I'm sorry for your situation but you knew the content of the thread from the title.

This, I really don't want people showing off their epeen and salary.

Your situation sucks and I am sorry but if you have had an injury that prevents you doing a physical job then I think you need to retrain to do a desk job?

And you said it yourself, you live in a small town without any opertunities for you. You have to move.

If I stayed in my ome town I would be stacking shelves in tescos. I appreciate you might not be pable to move, but you can't say there are no jobs when you live in the wrong place for jobs in your field.

I hope you have a speedy recovery.
