Far Cry 3 Thread

Probably been said 1000 times in this 55 page thread  but the game is totally unplayable on my system. No matter what setting i put it on i get a constant 20 FPS that stutters and jerks.

I can't play this anymore. It tried downloading the patch but failed, so I got it from Ubi's website. Installed it fine and everything, but now when I try launching the game, it sends me back to Ubisoft and tells me I still need to patch it.

I tried this game and altho it looked nice I had to turn the settings down until it looked like someone had sneezed porridge over the screen. Im going to update my system in the new year and then try it again.

A lot of the screenies on here make me cry :(

****** save system. Every time I decide to give the game another chance I die because of something daft (like my character not being able to hit the side of a barn at short range despite being able to snipe from miles away) and have to restart from miles away with no ammo.

This is the sound of me giving up and moving on to a proper game... Duke 3D! :->

The co-op is a bit buggy. Using a bow it randomly runs out of ammo. I have literally restocked ammo, pulled back an arrow to shoot someone and had it vanish into thin air along with the rest of my arrows without doing anything.

Also, tip for anyone using the bow. Do NOT use Fire Arrows in Coop. They simply don't work. The regular arrows 1 shot every regular enemy and do massive damage to the heavies whereas the fire arrows do practically nothing.

Make sure your v-sync is disabled, this has fixed it for me & a few mates. Obviously it's not going to work for everyone, but still. It's worth a try.

This my settings, and it plays quite well.

Game runs great for me on ultra settings with no msaa, post processing on ultra, minus the stuttering every few seconds, not a game breaker for me though.
Should i be using HDAO or HBAO? being using the latter so far.

For some reason I have to press alt+enter twice when starting the game (go from full screen and back to full screen again). The fps seems fine then.

Running superbly well for me on Q6600 & GTX580 on mostly optimal settings, seems players with the higher specs are giving more problems

Yep, some AMD dual cards are reporting poor performance. Take my 6990 for example, plenty of grunt, but the game is hardly using any of its potential. Have applied a fix found elsewhere and it has helped enormously. AMD as ever suck with their driver support.

Where did you get this?
