Oh poo just had accident

Just a bit of a update, looks like i wouldn't be able to cover cost of repairs as they would be £150-£200 so would have to go through insurance which would obviously put my premiums up. No option of chips away where we live unfortunately.

spoke on phone and she says if i give her £100 then call it quits. She obviously doesn't care about the damage on such a old car and would rather have the cash. Will obviously get a receipt of payment to her and that should be all cleared up, what you think?

Shock horror as someone doesnt have a spare £150 to £200 quid at christmas do you live in the real world Fuzz

OP if she is happy to accept it draft something up as suggested about it being clear this if for the damage in full.

Just suck it up and pay it

If you go through your insurance you'll have to pay your excess anyway, plus your premium will go up for at least the next 5 years

Be grateful she's being so reasonable. You're lucky

Surely your excess will be more than £100 anyway so if they're happy with that to settle the matter outside insurance then it's a no brainer...

Why do people keep saying this nonsense! I will say this as clearly as i can.

YOU ONLY PAY EXCESS IF YOU MAKE A CLAIM ON YOUR INSURANCE. IF SOMEONE ELSE MAKES A CLAIM YOU DONT PAY ANY EXCESS.

That's really clear, and correct, thanks. The big text helped loads.

However, he (the other party) would be making a claim on his insurance since he is at fault and the excess would apply.

Its clearly not clear enough. I will try again.

YOU ONLY PAY EXCESS IF YOU MAKE A CLAIM ON YOUR INSURANCE. IF A THIRD PARTY MAKES A CLAIM ON YOUR INSURANCE YOU DONT PAY EXCESS.

Lol Shadez, I have had to explain this to a few people before as well. It is funny how people can't understand it even when explained as clearly as you have!

That's a bit clearer actually. I'd use more colours next time though and it might get through first time around :p

Seriously though, that's not something I'd have thought of before - a claim from a third party without a component from yourself - it's just I assumed that if the insurance policy is being claimed against, the damage/cost is severe enough that you would have reason to on your part as well.

edit: has the OP actually said what the damage was to his car?

Just get her a newer M reg Corolla and keep the £50 change from the £100 you're prepared to give.

That's a good offer tbh. Doesn't matter how old the car is, you owe her what it costs to return the car to the state it was in before you gamahuched it.
