Windows 8 who's buying/upgrading

Why would you want normal windows 8.
Windows 8 pro is cheaper at the moment. Hence only one offering, untill the end of jan when the deal ends.

Absolutely no need for the pro features, but as you say its cheaper so yeah might as well grab that. Not that I can get the microsoft store to work at the moment..

Mind you, if I buy the upgrade will it give me a full ISO for future installs?

I have a Valid Vista Home Key but it won't install, just needs to be reactivated (for this laptop) by MS. They've confirmed its a valid key though. Do I need to install Vista to do the W8 upgrade? Its currently on the Developer Release of 8.

I thought I read you can upgrade the developer version once you have bought the Windows 8 copy. I am assuming you mean a pre-release version and not a trial of the Enterprise version. The only catch is that one cannot keep programmes and settings if doing it that way.

You mean on Metro ie Tiles?..right click on the Tile either uninstall or select unpin from start(both options appear at bottom after right click).

Nope, under 'your apps', I tried a few apps and didn't like them so uninstalled but they still show in 'your apps'... much like android apps still show in google play and can't remove the suckers.

Hopefully its not the same in Win8 metro?

That's the way it works at the moment. Its a bit daft because they're not really 'your' apps, its just a dispassionate list of everything you've ever installed.

I have a new laptop with Windows 8 and the only thing good about it is the fast boot time.
So I will be binning the hard drive and installing Windows 7 on an SSD.
Sorry Windows 8 you do not impress me at all.

My mates a nub.

He installed a "seven seas" version of windows 8 and complained the amount of problems he had with it then went back to 7 and here's me being on 8 since release and having no problems at all.

I can see why people don't want to upgrade from 7 with the metro start but I rarely use it. People who say "you don't know how much you use start until you've used 8" is a load of bs

Not a great start. After installing it and then adding the few programs I want, I've had to "Refresh" my pc after something fatal occured >.<.

Really? I'm running it on an ssd and am far from impressed with the boot time.
