Alienware m18x or m17x r4?

After many calls to Dell they've finally got parts shipping in overnight to get this laptop repaired for Monday morning.

I hope the guy I spoke to at Alienware was telling the truth and it really is being shipped overnight and my laptop will be repaired Monday.

Guy i spoke with was really good, seemed to know what he was talking about and did more then any other Dell telephone tech I've spoken to in the last few days...

i hope this laptop is repaired, i'm getting very fed up with Alienware.

Good evening everybody. I decide to buy aw m17x laptop with AMD 7970M 2GB and 17.3" WideFHD (1920 x 1080) and it cost about 1.500£. But its little bit to big price for me. Of course I can buy Clevo P170EM with same spec for about 1.200£, but problem is that i don't whan't clevo i need aw. So dose it's imposible reduce price to 1200£? I know i can call to dell and perhaps I will get a discount. What is the maximum they can reduce the price?. let's say I got a discount from dell. Can I use voucher code from google together with dell discount?

PS: sry for my bad english skills, I hope you all got what I whant to say.

You will only get one discount at any one time, 10% seems to be the biggest from calling so that would leave the outlet to go much beyond that.

It's really begining to make me question whether I actually need one or not, now much time has passed trying to get one haha! Probably be best doing some exercise or something when I am away from home to occupy my time and save myself a grand in the process :p

Hi all,

I placed an online order for an Alienware m18x r2 on Sunday 2nd December. It arrived on Tuesday the 11th December. The date for shipping was supposed to be the 14th December.

The laptop arrived in perfect condition and I've had no problems with it. I even had a phone call from Dell yesterday asking if everything was okay.

I was also able to get an additional £60 off the laptop because of a change in price the day after I bought it. This should be refunded to me soon (will let you know if I don't get it!).

I was going to buy an Alienware m17x r4 but because of the huge delays I went with the Alienware m18x r2. Seems like it was a good move.

Finger crossed for those waiting on their systems.

Kind of annoying if they hadn't canceled my order due to windows 7 not being compatible with the 680m it would be here by now. Wish they had just phoned and said what was wrong and then carried on with order.

Why the 680m is suddenly is incopatible with windows 7 ill never know. There's enough machines out there with it on.

very annoying about the windows 7 and 680m, I had to call around Dell 3rd party support today finding out if they will be fixing mine anytime soon... Dell can have some of the worst support techs on their telephone lines.. anyhow parts are in the Uk and apparently will be fixed Monday morning...

can honestly say, won't re commend alienware to anyone unless you really want one. awful support and seems the build quality of these machines are not as good as you'd be made to believe.. very very disappointed in every aspect. still waiting for a response to my official complaint..

I ordered my m18x early on Monday 3rd Dec with the same estimated delivery date, but i contacted the day before delivery to verify if is was supposed to arrive, but it's been delayed with a new estimated dat of the 27th :( with no real explanation as to what the delay was.

What spec did you order?

I was base spec with dual 7970s.
