Firstly sorry for my slight question spam but really people shouldn't be so helpful bring it upon yourselves.

I am planning my first loop and am trying to decide between using white pipes with distilled water or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-014-MH.

Three things really. I know your not meant to mix zinc parts with copper and this has zinc in it, i assume its in too low an amount to mess up my parts.

The general rule of thumb seems to be you need to clean out DW systems less than coolant systems due to a buildup of gunk but the page linked above says it lasts two years (as apposed to the 6 months most people seems to say colored coolant lasts). Can it really go two years before being swapped or is this just marketing spiel?

Finally if I plan to have a 360 rad 55cm deep could anyone hazard a guess at roughly how much (in l) coolant I would need. I know you cant be precise just a rough idea.

For the vast majority of loops we recommend buying 2L as a minimum, for most ~1L will suffice, but if for any reason (leaks, wrong loop order etc...) you need to drain off and re-fill its nice to have that spare bottle :)

Exactly what happened to me last weekend, contaminated my fluid so glad i had the spare bottle i ordered.

You'll definitely be cleaning it out and replacing tubes more often. Below is some pics of my tubes and GPU block which I cleaned out 2 weeks ago. I'd had Mayhems UV Red Premix in the loops since February so around 9 months.

The GPU block was a pig to clean, took about 30 minutes of scrubbing.

I think I am going for a mayhem premix (white) and build a drain into the loop so its easy-er to drain. Way I see it if I have to drain at 6 months at least it wont be all that hard to do.

I bought The uv green x1 but next time I'm going to go with uv green tubes and just use distilled water as it's less hassle, It's not like you can see the water flowing anyway so using coloured pipe is just as good.

ack.... not looking forward to disassembling my loop in a few months time.... Will be interesting to see if the Pastel series requires as much cleaning before replacement.

Get some coloured tubing and leave the fluid plain, you will thank me in the long run :)

I now run white tubing with EK Koolant.

It's also what I've started doing, especially after some stray blue fluid mixed with the blood red I filled withto give me a nice brown fluid :(

Had Mayhems Gemini Pink in mine for about 3-4 months before I noticed the coolant going milky in the res from where the colour was staining my tubes. Luckily it didnt stain my blocks or rads much.

Ive now got Mayhems Aurora Galaxy Purple for the glitter affect and Ive not noticed any discolouration as of yet (about a month so far).

UV Red stains and there is nothing can be done about it. UV Pink is the culprit for this.

We are testing a new UV Pink that is not supposed to stain as badly but time will tell.

Blood red no longer contains UV pink (hence its not UV active) so doesn't stain like UV red does. If you would like a good red go for Pastel Red or a Clear Premix and just red dye.

Yes pastel will last in you system for 2+ years plus not marketing bull we leave that up to others to do.

@Rich we have yet to see any tubing staining with blue please provide photos.

i will be honest, the only time we have seen tubing staining in customers systems that OcUK build is when uv red is used.

no other colour seems to stain long term

we have seen issues occur with nearly every other brand of coolant we have used, this is why we only use mayhems in our systems and bundles range.
