I don't think it has a meaning

It's from Shabba Ranks - Mr Loverman.

People used to shout it occasionally when the song came out, early 90's.

I think it was just featured in that song rather than originating from it, I was under the impression that it's a slang term from Jamaica.

It's possible, I have no idea. I'm guessing Shabba Ranks is probably why Dj's shout it though.

Yeah. Most clubs outside of karaoke and u18s usually have an MC or nothing
