Jobcentre Plus website

3-5 years !? i think she's pulling your leg as 6 months has always been the max unless theres been some major changes.

i can see this ending well :S

really do get the feeling ids has lost the plot of late and just does whatever anyone whispers in his ear.

I had to sign on a couple of weeks ago and just like you guys, the new site is awful.

The new rules are terrible too, benefit cuts for 26 weeks? genuine people will suffer from all this nonsense.
I also have a car so I am expected to commute up to 1.5hrs each way to and from work, I just gave up my last job because I couldn't afford a 40 minute commute as it was costing £50 a week and yet they want me to pay more so I earn even less!

I'm signing off and going to domino's to deliver pizzas till something comes up, It far less hassle and moneys better! My visit to the JC was unusually helpful this time and I was talking about old jobs I had done and found that once domino's pay your fuel for the evening you can then go to HMRC and claim your mileage allowance back too which would work out to be about £10 a day although that's annually. Something I was I knew last year as I have lost around £2000 :(

you can claim back taxes for the last 6 years if you have overpaid or didnt use an allowance you should have had

oh and IDS ;)

i had it out with the jc manager one day when i was in as his idea was for me to travel via two transport networks so id get stung twice for yearly passes. and go a min of 2 hours.

told the fat idiot maybe he should try it rather than being able to walk to work as he lives a mile from the jc. didnt hear much off him after that.

does make me chuckle at the advice some of these tools give out and i only wonder how they would do outside of the jc working in the real world.

I had a long chat with my advisor about the work programme yesterday. He basically said less people are getting jobs since it's been introduced than they were without it (3% less in my age bracket) and he would rather i signed off than start it if that's at all a feasible situation (which it may not be by the time it comes around).

Also because of that day the other week where it was super cold and my entire walk to the train station was sheet ice so i was late, i have now had my official warning and if i'm late again for whatever reason i can get a 13 week sanction! He could have given be one there and then last time if he wanted to be a **** about it. Good job i'm a nice chap eh..

the problem with the work program is its only doing what the jobcentre should have been doing in the first place. and if the jobs arnt there you wont help get anymore in work.

january to april will be a mess with all the christmas temp jobs ending and people tightening there belts till end of year financials.

Sadly I dont have details of my journeys to claim back from.

Everyone is expected to have a 90 minute minimum commute time each way, including me and I don't have either a car or a drivers license.

Public transport is easier as that 90 minute commute starts when you leave the house including waiting time. For me that would mean I could travel to Shrewsbury which is about 15 miles away which would cost around £30 a week.

Now in a car your looking at around 70 miles away which is about £100 a week, Still they expect you to accept a minimum wage job that only pays around £180 a week.

To be honest the sooner I'm out of that place the better :)

I've thoroughly enjoyed the last three weeks. The job was crap, the office was freezing, but it had one benefit - I didn't have to sign on for those three weeks and deal with the arrogant jobsworths that are the Jobcentre advisors.

Unfortunately it was only ever going to be a short term gig. I'm just glad it lasted up until Christmas. Now it's back to making a new claim and having to deal with the idiots again, something I'm really not looking forward to. I can feel my blood pressure rising already, and I haven't even got an appointment date yet!
