I don't know what would posess someone to knit a jumper for a tree or bench but that is exactly what someone in my village is doing. Put a smile on my face and feels very british. Is eccentricity the soft side of mental illness or is it a harmless bit of self expression? Anyone willing to admit to being an oddball?

Thats not a jumper. Thats a neck warmer.

I am odd myself. Anyone who knows me can attest to that.

Eccenticity is just 'insane' with money.

Don't like the Tree one, Hands of our Trees !!! I like Trees. :p

Bench one is Ace though.

Bet some mental old woman is doing it, We got a few strange ones that wander around here, Squirrel lady being one of them.

There is a 'collective' of these people. Someone has been doing it round my way for ages as well and they were interviewed on the radio, though their identity was kept secret. They liked to be known as guerrilla knitters.

I remember there was a Vodafone ad a couple of years ago where they did this. Think it might have been in Galway as I recall seeing a sculpture covered in knitware.
