Steam Christmas Sale 2012

This is turning out to be the poorest steam sale yet, the last one was epic and I spent close to £50. Not bought a single thing so far, I'm really hoping for a good deal on Black Ops 2 and certainly better than -17% amongst others

Not going to happen. Activision are evil.

Peoples expectations are too high, they already have the traditional games and then expect huge discounts on games that simply aren't going to get them.

I'm hoping fora little bit more off Far Cry 3 and AC3. Down to around £22-£25, hopefully more.

The point is that that even if they sold these games at £15 or even £10 they would still make £££.

FC3 and AC3 haven't even been on Steam UK for a month.

Besides both can be had none Steam for ~ 15 quid each.

That's exactly why this sale is crap, everything they're putting up can be found much cheaper else where, so what's the point?

Although from Steam I've had Splinter Cell Conviction for £1.99, Vegas 2 for £2.49 & Sim City 4 for £2.49, so to me, it's been an alright sale so far, but you're definitely way off the mark if you don't see how people can see this sale as being rubbish.

When I say ~ 15 quid each, I mean the MM keys.

Steam, GMG, GameFly and Gamersgate are all 30 quid for FC3, except only Steam is a Steam key, so no I don't see how I'm off the mark, people just expect way too much as usual, it's not down to Steam to make the discount, it's the publisher.

Yay, Walking Dead is 50% off. I've been waiting for this to come up in the sale. *click*

The problem is that other digital retailers now do similar sales, but steam haven't upped their game. The steam sales used to be special because they were unique but that isn't the case anymore.

I agree there's other sites having a better price on X or Y game, then Steam do a better price on Z game and vice versa etc.

It's why we as the consumer should shop around.

Are my maths really that bad...as that don't look like it comes to £30.75

I haven't bought anything from Steam yet, the odd one or two off other sites though. I will probably by some Saints Row The Third DLC but other than that I haven't been tempted, anything I want is cheaper elsewhere at the moment.

Guess it's doing my bank account a favour :D

Don't think it's down to the publisher mate, EA have always been against it yet have pretty much since day one offered many of their titles at 75%+ discounts on Steam, although looking at CoD you may be right. Still, all the games so far were cheaper at thanksgiving, if you think thanksgiving should be a more important sale than X-Mas than fair play to you mate. :D

Blanket statement and assumption.

How :p?
I can't think of a rationale response.
On the blanket statement, well, you're wrong, all the games so far weren't cheaper at thanksgiving, not saying some haven't (Most have been pretty much exactly the same price), as I'm sure I've bought Dead Island cheaper, that said this is the GOTY which has the DLC.

And on the assumption, again you'd be wrong, as I don't think the thanksgiving sale is more important than the X-mas sale.

Think I have voted in all of the community votes so far (not that there has been much good in there). Should have my badge soon :D

I just need to get the 15 votes and throw in some things to my Wishlist to get it.

Wasn't so hard now was it? ;)

a lot of the 50%'s were 75% in the thanksgiving and the 75%'s we have now were 75%'s back then. This sales done me well and grabbed me a few games I really wanted for dirt cheap, so I aint complainin', but I can see why most others are. The fact that they are only doing deals on the AAA titles is abit :/ and where is our Terraria at 60 odd pence? :(

When it does (if it does) fall to that price, everyone on here had best grab it, its fantastic!
