Steam Christmas Sale is Underwhelming?

hmmm, im not doing too bad, ive speant a ton already in this sale and i've just uploaded another ton onto my steam wallet as im sure there is more to come... This is only my second sale, first being the summer sale this year and this one seems on par to the summer one to be honest.

Would have liked to have the present hunt in games again, even if it was mainly just a rerun of most of last years ones

Publishers may well be getting wise to the fact that a lot of people are now waiting until Steam Sales to make a lot of purchases, lets face it, whilst it's great for us to be able to buy a year's worth of games at 75% off, it's not great for the publishers.

But I bet they make a hell of a lot more sales, and a lot more profit, it's not like they are selling a physical product, it's digital and costs nearly nothing to upload again.

its not the prices that are the problem in my opinion, its the simple fact thats theres nothing in the store that i want, i've already bought all the titles that appealed to me enough to be worth buying, there just isnt many interesting game releases at the moment.
all the games i'm waiting for arnt released till next year

It's just the same old, same old. Games have come out of their heyday phase where everything that can be done has been done, many years ago. Most games now are just rehashes. Once you've seen one, you've seen them all. The mid-late 80's and 90's were good times for gaming. Things pretty much deteriorated once the 00's hit.

I personally believe gaming is going to crash, pretty much like other sectors are doing. It's part of the big cycle that will naturally occur every 20 years approx. The 'current' gaming cycle actually should have crashed around 7 years ago (technically it did), it's just that it is trying to be artificially pumped up, again pretty much like everything these days that is being manipulated, which is why such little progress has been made. Unfortunately, greed took over like it did in the banking sector which is probably where many of the problems were stemmed from.

Finally, As the financial crisis gets a lot worse (which is guaranteed), every sector will get hit hard.

Made a few good buys I'm pleased with, like Two Worlds 2 Velvet Edition for 4.99.

Unfortunatley a lot of the decent deals were ones I already own. Although my brothers just built a PC, and being used to Xbox prices, he's loving it:) he already bought about 8 titles before we even built it:D

There's also more choice nowadays. I was about to buy Anno 2040 for £11.99 yesterday from Steam, then saw Gamersgate had it for £7.99, so i bought it from there.

I've been after Borderlands 2 but the DLC is working against it. Everytime i've seen it for £14.99 I think twice due to the Mecromancer costing £7.99 and Season Pass costing £19.99.
Extra DLC is great for getting people to play a game longer, but i'm just put off until a "complete" pack is released, due to the cost.

Hotline Miami is another tempting me... but i have so many others to play!
