Name your favorite album of 2012

Right adding the new Bat for Lashes album to the list, really enjoying it now and need it on cd really (spotify adverts are rubbish).

3 great albums this year, plus the Oh Sees did a new one which was a good laugh (they seem to be the modern day Ramones, an album every year that is similar to the last one, but now with more BAH BUH BAH BAHHHHH and distortion).

Keep coming back to the Music forum in hope that there will be more posts in this thread but no :(

Come on people, I want more albums to listen to!

Martin Rossiter - The Defenestration of St Martin

Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg

Richard Hawley - Standing at the Skys Edge

Mark Knopfler - Privateering

Many.

Alex Clare - The Lateness Of The Hour
Lana Del Rey - Born To Die
The xx - Coexist
Spector - Enjoy It While It Lasts
The Presets - Pacifica
Crystal Castles - (III)
Lianne La Havas - Is Your Love Big Enough?
Icona Pop - Iconic (EP)

Lots of good shouts in this thread so far, like a lot of them.

I'm going to throw a curveball or two into the mix here though - Soundtrack albums.

Either Zimmer's Dark Knight Rises or the End of Watch OST.

Bit of a cheat as it is simply an extension of a 2010 album, but for me it has to be "Teenage Dream - The Complete Confection" by Katy Perry. Totally my kinda pop, driving beats/melodies that render the (sometimes stupid) lyrics almost obsolete, although there are a couple of tracks where I find myself actively listening to them.

If that doesn't count, then perhaps like the OP I would choose "Battle Born" by The Killers. Consistent throughout, it doesn't have as many standout tracks as say, Hot Fuss, but it is the sort of album we can leave in the car cd player for a couple of weeks without feeling the need to change it.

I only got "The 2nd Law" by Muse yesterday, but initially impressions are that it won't be able to claim top spot for me.

Marillion - Sounds that can't be made

This, for me, is a return to form for the old prog masters. The last couple of album's were a bit naff but this is an amazing album. Steve hogarths singing is haunting in places. The producer has made a wonderful sounding recording too and through a good stereo it just sounds like you are being 'hugged' by the music.

opening song - Gaza (over 17 mins long)

I enjoyed this album. However I think they hit perfection on the Marbles album. That's just a masterpiece in every sense of the word.
