Will God accept you if you renounce religion?

It's a good thing I wasn't using the Drake equation as evidence :)

Then why did you say "Ah yes, that was the one I was thinking of" ?

You know you can just go "I guess I was wrong". :D

I am well aware of what the Drake Equation is, and how it works. Maybe my post earlier was a little misworded, I should have put "there is massive statistical evidence that there is a high probability of aliens existing" as I seem to have been misunderstood.

No, I understand you, I just think you are wrong. We can't put any numbers to it that are worthwhile. So we have no evidence, just guesses.

Wow, didnt expect that cop out. Had enough play then have we?
Please feel free to shortly summarise the evidence for the existance of a god.
I have said my standpoint
I.E:
There is no evidence other than a book written by men 2000 years ago.

I do not feel that a book should be taken as fact with nothing to prove any of its claims.

Hence my so called evidence is that there isnt any.
So,
What is your evidence to prove the existence of a god?

Well, it goes back further than 2,000 years. You've gotta count the old testament which prophesize of the coming of the messiah.

As for evidence, we ourselves are evidence of life being able to form given the right conditions. Therefore, with planets that have the right conditions for carbon based life, at least, to form, there is a chance that life will be able to form there too. Besides, wasn't there evidence of microbiological life in the atmosphere of Venus? Not to mention that life may not be necessarily dependent on a carbon base.

So, I guess it is conjecture. But, there is more evidence for that than there is for a deity. However, I am not trying to denounce others' faiths, I am simply backing up my opinion. :)

Prove we formed from dead chemicals.

Non odd thes is evidence and that can be used as tatsistixal evidence we don't even know what conditions are needed of life.
It's been proposed that Venus may have microbes living in clouds like we do on earth, zero evidence for an existing.

There's simply is no number at present time.

Lol, simple explanation, if any of these physics laws were different, we wouldn't exist so you would be able to say that. There might be billions of universes where the laws didnt fall favrouably, and no matter or life existed.

This should be extremely obvious to even a layperson and it galls me every time someone uses the "the laws of physics are perfect" argument.

An OcUKer admitting they ae wrong?

Sure, I'll accept that I was wrong. I have much to learn, and cross reference rather than draw my own conclusions straight away, I apologise.

Of course the infinite is found in nature? What are black holes (in our current understanding)? Infinite mass in an infinitely small place.

I'm an atheist and I'm happy to discuss it. The reason that we cannot recreate abiogenesis is because we lack the technology to recreate it. We have a good idea of how life began. Just because we can't replicate it does not mean it isn't correct. We can't replicate cold fusion with our current technology yet quasars and neutron stars exist.

You have all the ingredients that you say created life. You also have the technology. Now please, go and recreate it. If you can do this I shall believe.

I don't claim to be the biggest physics buff, far from it, but from my current understanding of Quantum Mechanics it doesn't really work with General Relativity. Hence why we are trying to find a Unification theory. The same way the the Clockwork Universe theory didn't work with General Relativity, so they used what works from both.

I love science sometimes :)

Yes but your claim was that "most of physics is conjecture". Quantum Mechanics is one small part of the whole field of physics.

I guess I'm picking you up on your use of 'most' whereas 'some' may have been better that's all.

No, I don't have the technology. When did I claim that?

Again, you have just dodged both points. Answer the question directly please.

Yes, thats fine :) I do tend to do stuff like that, and as such apologise :)

And shayper, blackholes are not eternal.

But Eternal do have black holes....
