somewhere out there!
so I got £90 for Christmas I'm going to buy lots of new toys for the kitchen from a really good little cook shop. so I want to know what is the most important thing in your kitchen? I shall be buying a good paring knife and a new wooden chopping board for sure. p.s please be nice :)

it may seem a bit weird but i would definatly advise a good peeler, just think how many fruit or veg require peeling they are well worth the money

i personally use a turbo peeler (yeah a late night shopping item but i didnt purchase it off the TV) and they really are excellent, im guessing any serrated peeler will be just as good

also +1 to a good knife, it may cost well over half and possibly all your budget but get a good chefs knife and a sharpener/steel and maintain it and it will be the best thing in your kitchen

A good thick wooden board. This will speed preparation, be safer, save that good new knife from blunting, it won't warp and should last you forever as long as you take care of it with a rub of vegetable oil now and then.
I love my fancy gadgets but the truth is you always get most benefit from improving on what you use everyday i.e. get a decent keyboard, mouse, cooks knife and chopping board if you use them day in and day out as it makes it much easier on you and those small little positives add up.

When it comes to cooking I always have to have my own knife, if I go to someone elses house i'll take it with me. A Lion Sabatier cook's knife for most general work and a small curved paring knife for everything else. One thing I would add is the Garlic Pro E-Zee Dice, which I use for a lot more than garlic, it's great for slicing anything that'll fit into it; garlic, ginger, small mushrooms etc

You got that Delia short cuts Kenwood one? Made a cracking salmon mousse with it.
That is the one we have! Can you tell me the recipe for that salmon mousse? :)

Well we are not made of money,:( you can get lots of decent odds and ends for £90 actually. As already mentioned a good sharp knife and a wooden board.

Sainsbury's Chefs Collection have a good quality and well priced selection of Knives.
I have a silicon spoon spatula thing, it is excellent for getting all the sauce out of bowls and pans.
If you have cash left get a saute pan. I have just bought one it is excellent again from Sainsbury copper bottom chefs collection and half price.

Cheers dude will take a peak.:)

If you have a TKMAXX near you it is worth having a look as they have some good bargains in their kitchen section - some great stuff if you wade through it every now and then.

Gladly :-)

There might be more inventive recipes from others but mine was nothing more than smoked salmon pieces, 3-4 sprigs of Dill, black pepper, rock salt and lemon juice to taste. Last but not least was 2-3 dessert spoonfuls of crème fraiche. Whizz it all up in the mini-processor then into the fridge to firm up. Too much crème fraiche will make it more of a dip though. :-)
