Steam Christmas Sale 2012

damn you steam sales couldn't resist cheap copy of sins of a solar empire :rebellion and a copy of FTL

who here downloads their games when sale is on?

my download speeds are pathetic. 14k/b's a sec..

even at 4am its never at mac speed. just fluctuates madly

Downloaded Witcher 2 earlier and was hitting around 12mb/s - I always download during sales and usually don't have any bother.

Anyone else hoping for the settlers to come up?

I also feel like a total mug, I've now spent over £200 on steam within the last couple months and it appears I could be getting these steam keys a lot cheaper elsewhere!

Steam has always had PMT with their download servers, some days I'll get the full 8mb/s, others I'll be stuck at 350kb/s.

Funnily enough, Origin always downloads at around 12mb/s, which is 4mb/s faster than what my internet can actually do. :p

Are you sure you are not confusing MB/s and Mb/s? I haven't used origin in a long time, but if steam is in MB/s and origin in Mb/s that would explain the discrepancy. It would also mean that Origin is downloading very slow though.

Wut? LOL.

I downloaded Battlefield 3 which is about 20GB iirc in 20 odd minutes so I'm guessing it was quite accurate. :p

Sound like it either found files on your drive to use, or it is mis-reading the download speed. Especially if Origin is the only application that has given you this extra speed your internet connection isn't capable of providing! lol

Phew got DCS A10 just before it finishes, nearly forgot

+1

8 minutes-ish left if anyone wants it.

Origin lists it as MB/sec. Maxes out my connection, as does Steam. If you get slow speeds change the Steam server in the options.
