What size drives do you have?
2 x 64 in the Crucial Array (machine A)
2 x 256 in the Samsung Array (machine in sig)

You can't compare the speed of 256gb drivers against 64gb drives.
that's y the 840 is loads better.
you do realise the 64GB M4 has rubbish write times. only 110MB/s
as soon as you go to the 128GB it has 220MB/s
And the 256GB has 300MB/s.
But saying that you don't normally write lots to SSd's its read speeds that are important.
Samsung 128GB 840 read speed = Sequential Read: 530MB/s
crucial M4 128Gb read= Sequential Read (up to): 550MB/sec (SATA 6Gb/s)
So what?
When under most conditions do you get anywhere NEAR 100MB/sec writes?
Again. 99% of people would not tell the difference between an M4 or a 830 or a 840 Pro.
On my Mac Pro I have a stats app running all the time, the highest write speed I have seen recorded is 105MB/sec after a week on my boot SSD, and even then it is a peak, not a sustained, write. (It has my OS, Apps and Lightroom Caches + Library)
Yes, everyone wants the best. But spending ~25% more on something you will not notice is again, madness.
At the end of the day it is their money, but someone has to be the voice of reason...
Tell me about it it .... I get 1000r/220w off that array and it generally feels rubbish in comparison to the 840 pros. Great for yesteryear performance though
