Issue with online seller.

Really don't tell him to pay them any money. First, it means he's down £25. Second, it looks rather like accepting he's guilty. Reply should go:

1/ You send out a knackered board. See photo. I did not do this. no one is retarded enough to do this to a board.

2/ You sent out a new board, as required, because the first attempt was not fit for service. This was not claiming on insurance.

3/ I broke the new board because I'm a bit of a spacker. I would like to claim for this on the scansure insurance. Note that the damage I've inflicted is minor bending of some pins, not comparable to the ridiculous state of the first board.

4/ You will send me a replacement board and I will post you this one. I will not pay £25 additional charges. If the replacement arrives fit for purpose, our business is concluded.

5/ If I spastically break the third board, I'll accept that I shouldn't be allowed near screwdrivers.

Kind regards

First board should have been replaced by retailer under warranty and not insurance as his contract is with the retailer not the manufacturer for at least the 1st year. He has not actually used his insurance up yet.

If you contact the manufacturer direct they will tell you the same as they have no requirement to deal with the individual customer. Some choose to but they don't have to.

No but he could DSR the rest (although the point is moot if it arrived in December).

I guess you haven't ready any of the replies advising not to do that? :(

The thing is he relies on it for his work machine and if he can't work he can't afford to eat. So that's why I advised take the bullet now then chase it up afterwards. After all £25 you might not see back is better than defaulting on your mortgage and not being able to eat.

So how was he working before this new motherboard arrived  And if having a h/w failure is such a high impact event, then the numpty should have a backup...

He has a laptop, but when doing graphic design work, would you rather work on a top of the range rig with 7680 x 1400 + another 1080p monitor or on a laptop with integrated graphics that can barely power one of his 3 monitors?

He needs to be able to power his set of 3 monitors and the other 1080p for clients to view at the same time.

Using a MBA with HD3000 would vastly affect my workload p/h as-well.

Its obvious from the name of the insurance who the company in question is, and while I get this is negative press for the company you used, and in effect positive for OCUK I still think the company name should be removed.

I used this company in the past, had a TERRIBLE experience and vowed never to shop with them again.

Its actually why I found OCUK in the first place.

Its scan.... says it all

sorry to be a quoting troll, but as above.

I sent back a graphics card to them under DSR it was mint, and they tried to tell me there were marks on the card, and went as far as calling me a lier when I disputed these marks.

They gave it the front saying we'll take pictures and e-mail you etc etc, when I pressed them on it awaiting for said pictures they backed down and said oh we've opened another from stock and it has the same marks....

I digress avoid these sharks where possible :(

They said my friend was lying as-well when they falsely claimed on their insurance. He even has pictures with a sniper round through it when it was delivered. And he sent them before even returning the motherboard so they can't deny it came faulty. I doubt anyone could have caused that sort of damaged without spearing it with a sword.

But they refuse to do anything and for £25 it isn't worth court to him. But an hour or two writing a letter is worth it more for the principle to him rather than the money.

And OCUK I have found recently after a spate of problems have the best RMA service by far (sometimes you pay more but it's worth it). TBH it would be good for OCUK if they could other something similar to scansure.

IMO OCUK don't need such gimmicry their customer service is second to none! And as has been proven by your friends experience, scamsure isn't worth the paper it's written on.

What really gets my blood going though is being called a lier, I swear I would have swung for the bloke on the end of the phone....

I also hate all the publicity they get too like on Hexus and on the back of mags like Custom PC etc, like their something wonderful, when clearly they are not!

Yeh the guy to his face called him a liar, when they are the ones clearly lying. The hypocritical *insert swear word here*. They basically said we don't give a crap we screwed you over we have plenty of customers.

so he doesn't have a (suitable) backup then.

Another turn in the story. My friend used my phone to call before as he had his phone nicked the other day.

About 17:00, an Unknown number calls me saying I quote "we will see you in court then ********". It isn't even my item they are dealing with lol. Unlucky for them, since a few years ago after the monkeys working for sky I use a call recorder app to record all my calls and then put them on my computer every week. Now just to phone Vodafone to see who actually called then we will see what their stance is then.
