**ASUS ARES2 AVAILABLE FIRST FROM OcUK (NOW IN STOCK)!!**

With the 8x00 series just announced, why spend so much on a 7900 card?

...just kidding, 8x00's are doomed to be The Emporers New Clothes and the fastest card on the planet always demands a high premium. I'd buy two if I could afford them.

They've spelled it wrong, should be ARSE.

:D

Even if I had the money I think I'd rather have a normal heatsink than this closed loop thing, if I wanted watercooling I'd stick a high end waterblock on a couple of reference cards and go custom.

AMD didn't make a 7990 for a reason, because you'd need stupid cooling solutions like this. :p

Tempted to sell my 690 for this! Mind now this is coming out, maybe the prices of the 690s will come down.. so i can finally get 2 in there. Can only hope!

I guess i really need to stop feeling guilty when i leave the tv on standby overnight.

The 8000 series AMD have announced is OEM channel only, these are simply current 7000 series re-branded and not available in retail channels at all.

Retail 8000 will come around May and will be a very different specification indeed. :)

May? Oh only a few months of global domination left for me. :(

P.S Gibbo any chance of ocuk getting an AMD GPU rep like the one overclock.net have in Thracks.

Damn, a few months left on a 7970, I want a 8970 now :p
Hoping Haswell is close the 8970 too, will make a pointless but exciting upgrade :p

Might skip the 8000 lot and wait for the 9000 lot, depends how 8000 turn out.

I remember seeing the original MARS and ARES from ASUS and thinking those were insane. This is on a completely new level - 3 x 8 pins !

Are you going to get one? :D
I don't think you've got yourself a dual 7970 yet have you?

£1200 though, no thanks from me

For me its only worth getting dual GPU cards if you can get 2 cards in a case.

Otherwise I am better off with single GPU cards like my Matrix Platinums.

My 2 GTX 690s overclocked plus an oced hex core will pull a maximum of 1032w at the wall which makes it an easy way to get 4 GPUs in a case.

If I tried the same with the cards in the OP it would be very difficult.

When OcUK gets stock I'm curious to know:

1) I'd like to see the 30c cooler claims tested alongside dBA
2) With such a small diameter how can a single hose effectively cool two GPUs
3) The height of the cooler is smaller than say a TT Water 2.0 Pro as it is flush to the height of the fans (are they 120mm?), probably to make fitting easier, there must be increased probability of trouble dissipating heat. More so since a single rad isn't very effective on a CPU vs the best air coolers of today such as the Phanteks PH-TC14PE.
4) How effective are those fans as even the H100i have only half-decent copies of the Air Series (my opinion)

Thanks!
