Bottled Water

I once saw a hollywood film in the 80's about chemically hit tap water turning a small town's residents insane and causing them to kill each other. For some reason that film stuck in my head so I try and drink as little tap water as possible :o

Besides, the tap water in my area is nasty. You can smell the chlorine too easily.

I very rarely buy bottled water, agree that it's a rip off in most cases. I do however re-use a water bottle constantly at work, due to this thread I've now ordered a 1000ml stainless steel bottle to use instead :p

Ah tbh i use three tea bags in my cups of tea ... a few spoons of sugar .. some glass bottled creamy milk and the taste is mind blowing ...

Try doing the same when you go on a trip to the lake district or sunderland etc... you will never want to drink tea when you're home again hehe

When I'm out and about I will buy water if I'm thirsty - most places won't just give you a glass of water as you pass by - and a bottle is convenient when you're out and about. I don't drink fizzy drinks or soft drinks really and I love water. It is extortionately expensive - but unless I'm in a restaurant, pub or somewhere where I can get some tap water, bottled water's great.

I wouldn't buy bottled water for the fridge at home though. It is something for when you're "on the go".

Nonsense, it tastes fine filtered.

Not nonsense at all. Granted mine tastes better filtered but it's still not 'fine' - certainly nowhere near as nice as Highland Spring. I drink a 1.5l bottle a day, which costs me about 50p a day when bought in 6 packs, a price I'm more than happy to pay :)

from the documentary Gas Land which is about fracking in the usa that is leaking in to the water table and causing flamable tap water...

I believe they just approved fracking in the uk, this is what the uk has to look forward to? I don't mind drinking tap water back in cape town, but in london it has too much lime in it and too much visible solids.

I was simply pointing out that it isn't 'rank', nor do I have an issue with my taste buds, as the poster who quoted me suggested.

A quick test to determine if your taste buds have vanished ....

Can you taste the difference between lets say cherry tomatoes and the normal larger crap ones ?

or Shiitake mushrooms and Portabello mushrooms ?

If you cannot then id advise you to stop eating crap !

You're offering a general statement for a personal opinion.

In response to an incredibly generalised statement made directly at me!

Err yes, infact I always buy baby plum tomatoes and grow my own in the summer because regular large tomatoes tend to have little flavour.
I also don't smoke and clean my tongue with a tongue cleaner brush.... happy now?

London's water is pretty good all things considered (it certainly isn't bad enough to make me want to buy bottled water instead - what's the point?). Though I prefer the taste of softer water. When I go to my grandmother's house in the countryside in France, the water there is very soft, and delicious.

Ok fair enough lol.. i cannot stand normal tomatoes... pheasant food ...

guess general water does taste different across Britannia .

My tap water is really good, better than a lot of bottled stuff, BTW you can get a full water quality report from your water board/company.

My mate used to work for a company which bottled water for the cheap supermarket brands, it came straight from the water supply in an industrial estate in Glasgow.

coca cola water got busted in the states for doing something similar, they said it was spring water but they just made a bore hole in the factory in the industrial estate where they were and bottling that.

I think you are referring to Dasani which is Coca-Cola's water brand. It's the biggest selling bottled water in North America, but yes it is just filtered water, not spring water.

It was over here in the UK that it was a disaster when they launched it in 2004. Nobody wanted to buy filtered tap water in a bottle when you can buy spring water in a bottle. So that was why it was canned. Like I said though, this hasn't stopped people buying it in the US.
